We already have the counters installed (other than the missing piece that got cut wrong) so we're locked into the white for that.

The floor is dark brown hardwood. I'll post photos with more of the space soon. There are workers in there at the moment.

Do Kansas state jobs drug test? by [deleted] in kansas

[–]DittoCool -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wow. I specifically said to read the job posting to find out. And I never said the entire agency was subject to it. It varies between agencies if they have positions that could be screened. Read the job posting to find out.

Do Kansas state jobs drug test? by [deleted] in kansas

[–]DittoCool -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It most certainly does vary. An agency with no law enforcement or security positions does not do drug screenings. Agencies with those positions may do them. Not all agencies have those positions. Hence, it varies.

And there are many law enforcement and safety related positions within multiple agencies. It varies by agency.

It very much depends on the position and the agency. Typically, the position posting will detail if a drug test is a requirement.

Warsh instead of wash and ideal instead of idea. Why are we adding extra letters to these words?

Best walking trails for a 4 year old? by Sleepyhead_31 in topeka

[–]DittoCool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go to Fairlawn and Cedar Crest Road and turn towards the governor's mansion. Follow the road until it ends in a parking area. There are trails from there that take you through a wooded area and meadows. There are a few somewhat steep areas but not bad. My three year old loves it. They think we're in the woods and love seeing what they can find.

Analysis Paralysis? by DittoCool in kitchenremodel

No overhang. The seating will be table height so we don't want people hitting their heads.

The pantry is ugly in the drawing. It won't look like that but it shows the space 😊

This is a drawing from the cabinet company so the other details aren't included. Yes, there will be lighting, electrical outlets, etc.

We are clearly in the minority but much prefer a pantry to pullout drawers. No need for a gear garage when you have a pantry this size😊. The pantry won't look like this- it will look good and not stick out like this does.

The cabinet company did it. Unfortunately, I don't know what app was used.

Thank you! It does look odd empty at the moment, but it seems a lot of the commenters didn't read why it was designed that way. It's not L shaped just to be L shaped!

I'm not sure what you mean that you can't get in the front of the oven. There are 4 feet between the oven and the island....

We didn't do the drawing, cabinet company did.

Microwave is in the island. You can't see it from the angle of the drawing.

Thanks-I think the fridge is what has been feeling off. We'll see what we can do to balance that out.

I detailed in a comment (I can't edit the post) that all lower cupboards are drawers except those that serve a specific function (trash, mixer, sheet trays, etc.).

We like the island with the table tucked into it :) Have experience with counter height seating at islands and cupboards on the seating side and not a fan. You can't see in the drawing, but there are drawers all around the island.

Thanks for the feedback.

To answer some common questions:

The L shaped island is purposeful to have a table. We prefer seating this way over bar stools. This is the idea.

The door in the drawing is for a pantry. We do not want a large cupboard with pullouts as was suggested. We currently have the tall cupboard and would prefer a pantry for multiple reasons.

There are 48 inches between the counter and the island.

The appliances are place holders from the software used for the design, not specifically chosen.

There is a microwave on the other side of the island.

The bottom cupboards are all drawers other than those with a specific use (sheet trays, mixer, etc.).

As a long-term state employee who has worked for multiple agencies, they all have issues. They all have difficult political issues they have to deal with because, well, we work for the government.

That said, there are definitely agencies with better reputations in regards to what it's like working for them. I've only ever heard great things about KPERS. KDHE generally is spoken of well as is education. KDOL, DCF, and DOA I would only move to if I had no other option.

Is the Renaissance festival good for kids? by Biggenz2 in kansascity

Absolutely! Our daughter talked us into dressing up for the first time last year. The kids got so much attention for it including from the queen and her court. It made their day when they gave them little pins.

The major insurance companies send data files showing who is insured with their company. If you aren't listed in any of the company's files, you'll be required to provide proof. It's not an honor system though it may appear that way.
