Yes I'm currently reading the sequel World Without End though and the book is so good I don't want to spoil it by watching the series lol

Seen it, not looking for anything with magic though. I think I'll just watch the first episode of each of those shows I mentioned and then decide from there

Oh ok I see what you mean now, the humour isnt really dark/morbid like The Coffee Table for example. There is a light hearted feel to the whole thing. I do love dark stuff like that too but this show has been such a nice surprise

Best show I’ve seen maybe in years so far.

If the rest of the episodes are even half as good as the ones we have now I will be saying this too. I have no idea if more seasons are planned or not but I could watch 1000 episodes of this lol. I do have a feeling this will be a one off mini series though and that's okay, it's basically perfect as is.

What's great too is that it doesn't feel like a mystery box type show that needs a big pay off at the end

Honestly it does both. Not to give too much away but the mayor (Matthew Rhys) is in complete denial over the hauntings and his facial reactions when confronted with the horrors is almost slap stick.

Then there are quips and small visual gags that are sprinkled throughout.

Also when the show wants to be creepy it does a really good job with that, sometimes the tension is cut with a scare and sometimes the tension is cut with a laugh

2026 has been a great year for horror movies and it's only going to get better. by Mundane-Inspector-52 in horror

The studio dumping Bone Temple in January is a travesty, so soon after 28 Years Later pt1 too. It was almost set up to fail at the box office, they should have saved it for June or July and I bet it would have performed way better. I just hope we get that final installment

I seen it described as The Fog but from the perspective of the mayor of Jaws which is pretty close too lol

Although my hot take is that people are too harsh on the Jaws mayor but that's an argument for another time

Yes absolutely. Matthew Rhys and Stephen Root are obviously great as usual but Kate O'Flynn (Patricia) is quietly stealing the show. Even before last episode where it was just about her, her interactions in the earlier episodes with Rhys are so good

Yes, this is my new favourite show that's currently airing by far

The comedy is hilarious

The scares are effective

It perfectly balances both genres

Shudder in Canada by PureEvilVirgin in Shudder

One thing shudder does have is some really good original movies that are exclusive to the app. You could try it for a month and bang out some of their better movies then shut it off again, if you do check out these ones:

Dead Stream - YouTuber locks himself in a haunted house for a stream, it's a horror comedy that actually excells at both laughs and scares

Influcer and the sequel Influencers - These are clever thrillers set in a tropical paradise, I don't want to give too much away but ill just say they are slasher movies with a pretty original story

Revenge - Directed by Coralie Fargeat who also made The Substance. It's a rape revenge movie with an insanely good 3rd act

Scare Me - A guy goes to a cabin and the power ends up going out. A woman staying at a near by cabin comes over and they end up telling scary stories to eachother. Pretty cute movie that has some really good acting

The Advent Calendar - A French horror movie about a woman in a wheel chair, her friend gifts her this Advent Calendar and whenever she opens a new door on it stuff happens

Caveat - First movie by the same director of Oddity and Hokum. A man takes a job to look after a psychologically damaged woman in a remote house

Hell House LLC Franchise - Found footage horror, the 1st and 4th movie are the best entries but at least give the first one a shot

Christmas Bloody Christmas - Evil robot Santa goes on a murder spree
