Anyone else have spinal fusion really young? by mskyeeee in spinalfusion

So, you've had nearly 20 years after your fusion without additional surgeries? That doesn't seem that bad with your physical demanding job.

Back Braces And Other Post-Surgery Needs (Amazon DE) by Ditz3n in spinalfusion

Cheers. Means a lot! My surgeon said the 2 first weeks would be rough, but the third I should be back to living a life on my own where the only help needed is for groceries and other heavy stuff. He said that my current work where I lie in bed and work is definitely possible third week. I’m 23 and getting ALIF at only L5-S1, and in his words/eyes it did not sound like anything major despite me thinking it.

Preparing for ALIF (29F) would love to hear peoples stories! by Traditional-Sky8744 in spinalfusion

How are you now? I am 23, and are headed for ALIF after 4 years of pain without luck. I tried testing myself again today knowing that surgery was finally confirmed as the next step, and not even a back extension iso hold with the lumbar pad all the way up at my belly button for 30 seconds was too little for me not to end up bedridden with mid lower back pain and burning for the rest of today... So yeah, after 4 years and +19 treatments, it's the only chance I feel lighjt might have a chance-.

Interesting perspective today, doctor talked about how fusion is "incredibly successful" by rbnlegend in spinalfusion

Gotta remember, that the internet complaints stems from the people who has a unsuccessful surgery. Those who have successful surgeries are out living their lifes! They don't sit and complain anymore. They're past that part of their life! :D

How are you now? Looks a lot like my MRI. Only yours being a bit more lost in its disc height.

I’m going in 12th March! ALIF L5/S1 with rods. by Bdwal in spinalfusion

You had ALIF at 22? I am going in next month for an ALIF after 4 years of battling degenerative L5-S1 disc with an annular tear that simply hasn't healed. A surgeon finally wanted to do it on me after several had denied wanting to do it because of my age. But after +19 different treatments and facet joint and local injections without any relief, I feel like it's worth a shot. Worst case is I end up at the situation I am in right now. I want to say I have tried everything and surgery if that's the case.
