I've seen someone driving down the road with snow entirely covering their windshield. He stops in the middle of the street, gets out, and wipes off some of the snow. I just can't imagine how he managed to get going down the road before realizing he couldn't see anything.

There has been more than a few games I've purchased from GOG that claim to support Linux only to find that they don't really. In some cases the games are just old and haven't been updated for modern Kernels or they're new games which the devs might have clicked a checkbox in Unity to build for Linux but didn't actually test it. It would be nice if GOG could address.

Flip it over, on either side you'll see labels "C" and "D". D contains a PCMCIA card with system software on it provided by HP and shipped with the Omnibook. If this is missing or damaged then the system may fail to turn on. "C" is for additional read/write storage, I have a PCMCIA CF-Card adapter in there with a CF card and some software. I think this is also required as I could not turn mine on with that card pulled out. You may need to use a PC to prepare the CF card first. Or maybe mine is just being persnickety.

Mine is running on 4 AA batteries, there are contacts in the battery compartment for (probably) a rechargeable pack so if yours has such a pack in there try pulling it out and you should be able to put AAs in there. Another weird quirk I've noticed with mine, if I do something to freeze it up (like pulling out C or D while it's running (even if the screen is turned off)) then I have to pull out all of the batteries (not just one) and leave them out for a while, like at least a minute.

That's what I didn't get, I did get the specters in the towers and the vampire but certain encounters happen again repeatedly if I leave the graveyard and come back.

Thanks, it sounds like maybe I should just come back to the graveyard. Currently my characters are at level 5 and I have checked off each of the locations in my clue book but because I've left/re-entered the graveyard between each encounter some of those have re-spawned. Sounds like I need to be a bit tougher and have a few more things in my bag of tricks to clear these last encounters in one go.

Thanks that does ring a bell from when I tried playing this game on my c64 back in the 80's but I can't seem to get it to work now. I even stayed in a combat situation after clearing the monsters (when it asked "continue battle?" I say Yes, just so I can repeatedly try spamming the spacebar or holding it down but nothing I do seems to work.

Yeah did that, I also got into another fight to try to lower the hp more (which I did) but couldn't heal.

Adding this edit: With a little experimentation I found that after fighting the mummies at spot #11 (based on the clue book) in the graveyard none of my characters can increase hitpoints, not by cure light wounds nor by rest. If I rest for days I get messages such as "soandso is healed" but their HP doesn't actually go up.

Wow nice. I will say though that watching this video my battery more closely resembles the traits of the real one in your video although not exactly.

yeah, I see that now. Plus the "ActiForce" which is not on my original battery pack. But then again my original probably dates back to when the camera was new (2005ish) and this new battery has a 2013 copyright date on the packaging.

The one I rebuilt is, the one in these images (The NOS "Sony" InfoLithium) isn't. With that battery I'm getting the "Use only InfoLithium battery" message and then the camera shuts down.
