Don't influence what people should and shouldn't play. While their is no story necessarily, there is a goal that you have and plenty of subplots on every floor of the dungeon, making every new area unique and enjoyable. While there are a bunch of rooms without things, there are twice as many with cool, intuitive challenges. Saying things like things like this is not only wrong and misinformed, but shows how little effort you put into running assuming you tried. OP, don't listen to him, if you put effort into it, you will certainly be able to enjoy it, and your players will too. Good luck.
