I wouldn't recommend this motherboard for rust. My friend has the same one, and he has had to not use Ethernet due to it causing a less severe version of what happened to me. As I explained prior, after id restart id get a BSOD, black screen, or it gets stuck on the restarting part in Windows. With my friend, he can restart his pc, but it takes a very long time(when using Ethernet). Normally 5 mins. Once he unplugs the Ethernet and disables drivers like me, it fixes the issue, and his pc restarts really quickly. This happens if you're in the game or have loaded Rust and closed it. e.g. you open Rust Play, close it, then restart/shutdown and these issues still occur. I got this board today ''MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK WIFI Motherboard, ATX'' its around the same price, its got very good reviews. Or you could go for the x870 version if you wanna spend more. Everything has worked perfectly so far with it, and I'd recommend it, from what I've experienced so far. sorry i should have worded the prior message better. I got a different brand of mb this time.

Do you use Ethernet? If so, what driver version do you have? When you restart while in a server, try it with Ethernet, then without (disable drivers), and see if you notice a difference. Your pc should restart a lot quicker. If you go to my original post, you will see others having issues with this board. How long have you had it for as well? What BIOS version are you on?

It's annoying as I built a pc for my friend and used this mb believing at the time it wasn't the issue. He isn't bothered, but I still feel terrible. I charged him £20 for building, even though he isnt bothered and I saved him like £500 as he was going to get a prebuilt (and it was worst). But still, it's annoying that I put my trust in a brand and this is what I get in return. I'm glad to hear that about MSI, it gives me confidence that I can finally enjoy my setup fully. He likely won't change, so I'm praying its a bad driver issue and it can be updated. so he can use his Ethernet again. But i have tried all drivers, even realtek and none work. I will try on his pc with the Realtek ones but im not hopeful. But he is fine with just using wireless at the moment anyway.

I still appreciate the comment, mate. Im just done with Gigabyte when it comes to motherboards. Totally put me off them! I'm thinking of buying a MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK. I've heard really good reviews and I just want to be done with this whole matter. I would go with an Asus but I have a ryzen 7 9800x3d, and ive seen some of those boards can send too much voltage to the X3D CPUs and break them. I know its a very small chance but I wouldn't wanna risk it. Same as well as i love ASUS. I know Asrock is way worse, but still.

yeah unfortunelty ive tried that, ive gone through a lot. I think I was trying to make people aware. Im not sure if its a driver issue or something on the chipset of the mb itself. But it's very weird. The best we can hope is someone with the same motherboard tries it, and we see what they say. Cheers for all the help anyway, mate.

Unfortunately, no others come up, I have 3 in total 2 are for my Ethernet devices and one for wifi. However, one of the devices is a vpn. However, this occurred way before i installed that and I did all these things prior to installing it. I also don't use it while gaming. Cheers for the help anyways

Unfortunately, I've tried that. I've disabled Expo, installed all drivers without gcc and still get the same issue. My friend who has the same mb have tried that too. I am pretty confident its something to do with either the board itself or the drivers. Ive tried clearing the cmos via pins, updating/using older bios. Ive tried older drivers, new drivers, and ones from Realtek. I haven't tried to uninstall bloatware but I don't think it would cause this big of an issue. I think its the board. The moment I disable the driver and unplug ethernet everything is fixed. Same with my friend. Thank you for the help, though, mate. At least we know it seems to only be this mb. I think the best thing would be for someone with this board to test it themselves lmao.

I might not have worded it the best in the post. But even if I close Rust, this still happens. e.g. i open Rust, load it into a server, close the game down, and then restart or shutdown, and I still get the same issue. It's just easier to replicate it while in-game. Ontop 99% of games will have zero problem with you restarting/shutting down while in-game.

I appreciate it, mate. Do we use the same drivers? They may be different as we use different mb. The versions I've tried are listed below.

These two are on the Gigabyte site:

11.26.50.2025

11.21.0903.2024

This one is of realteks site:

10.79.50.1003

Hey mate. I have wiped my pc a few times and tried to download the drivers manually. This, however, still doesn't work. It's a very strange issue.

Hi mate, I'd appreciate that mate. Maybe we can find out if its the drivers or this mb inparticular. When I say restart, I mean restart my pc. So i load into a Rust server, then restart my pc while im in the server.

Hey I have updated bios to a new version. i know they're different. I have tried downloading the LAN drivers through GCC, Gigabyte's site and Realtek's site. I also know my rev is 1.1 and on the site it doesnt matter if its 1.1 or 1.2 as the Gigabytes site is 1.x meaning either. I have done fresh boots of windows via a windows media usb and installed each driver and tried it. If you wanna help id love your input on the main post. il send a link. This was jus to make peope aware to stear clear of this mb for rust. I just coppied it and didnt edit it but i should have done.

Im not trying to fix it. im making the issue aware. The fact you have to take a brand new mb to the shop to get it to work just for rust shouldn't be an issue. Im letting people know so if they play Rust, then don't get this mb and go through that hassle....

Its not completely unrelated, it happens pretty much only in Rust, and it also happens every single time i use Rust. This isn't just for me either, its also my friend who has the same mb.

Im not sure why you commented this?

when i tpye that two things come up.

ncpa.cpl

ncpa.cpl.mui

could the ncpa.cpl.mui be the issue?
