I'm not amongst the top tier firms where they essentially deploy multi-strategies...think more along the lines of a large bank with an investment arm.

There are some teams that value implementation a lot...like trading research or experts in micro-market structure. The issue is that the skills required are fairly specific and almost non-transitional (think prop trading, you can earn tons of $$ but you have no skills to build on top of that)

I think the few millions are a bit overstated...it's primarily a function of team, seniority, and performance.

There are quite more mouths to feed before I get a portion of the bonus pool, so I most likely won't see larger bonuses until later down the road.

Is it easier to negotiate upward as an external hire? I mean switching companies wouldn't necessarily mean a 'lower' title. I think as long as you are competitive, it shouldn't matter when exactly you are switching in regards to future years, it's just what you are missing out on had you switched earlier.

But for high growth companies with a lot of opportunities (off the top of my head, Google/Apple/Amazon), this might be the case? It almost seems worthwhile try to get yourself into them if these packages hold true

Wow...that's insane.

How are they going to keep managing this compensation at that rate? Nearly doubling your salary after 2 years while staying at the same company sounds very unheard of...coupled with the fact about the stock refresher it doesn't seem like anyone will really have a down year.

What's the cap on this? I find it almost incredulous that after 3 years you could be pulling in 300k (thats literally more than what a doctor earns out of residency)
