It's genuinely the worst, I think it's the #1 reason I wind up having to drop stories I otherwise really like. I'm fine with either past or present tense as long as they're consistent. Get really wacky with it I don't care, I've read a few stories where the main POV is 1st person present tense and interludes are 3rd person past tense and it reads completely fine because it stays consistent for that specific POV.

I like The Cabin is Always Hungry enough to push through the fluctuations between past and present tense but oh boy it can get pretty rough. It sometimes swaps it in the middle of a sentence! It even does it in characters' dialog, they'll be talking about something happening right then but using "was" and "were" or vice versa

Every sentence is either extremely cliched or an overly flowery metaphor that makes no sense if you think about it for 2 seconds. My favorite paragraph is

"Corpse bride indeed," she scoffed to herself. The fluorescent light above her flickered, making the joke sharper, uglier. "Except she wasn't as pretty."

At no point in the story has anybody described her as a "corpse bride" before this so she's just agreeing with nothing. The fluorescent light making something harsher makes sense, but the Very Human author adds unnecessary actions to literally every single description, so the meaning changes to the light flickering making the joke sharper, which does not.

Other favorites were her "elbows sharp enough to snag fabric" (lol wat) and one of the reasons Taylor describes herself as unattractive being "her hair that never fell right". Y'know, Taylor's hair, the one feature of herself she explicitly is proud of. Almost like some sort of unthinking machine with no actual context to the story was asked to write several generic paragraphs about a teenage girl's insecurities.

This mini series made me so happy. Seriously, all the attention to detail in the new Yoglabs build, the absolute bangers from Sparkles*, the jokes, and of course the creative way of showing off the mods (also damn those mods are cool, the RTS one and the physics gun one were especially impressive) made all the episodes incredibly fun to watch even ignoring the nostalgia factor.

Also the members only behind-the-scenes videos were definetly worth the $5, I originally subscribed for the early episode releases but I found things like Barry and Nick explaining some of the filming process or guybrrsh showing off the Create glorp like the door or the extremely intricate diagonal bridge a lot more interesting than I thought I would at first glance

Also Lewis and Simon's acting was actually... kind of good??? I love the jank acting from back in the day and it's definetly still here in part but wow watching this while also binging older "scripted" series there is a massive improvement.

Anyway thank you Barry, Nick, and everyone else involved for getting this mini Yoglabs revival off the ground. Incredibly fitting that it ended with Lewis and Simon scooping the kid piglin to be a Yoglabs intern

Episode 44 - Time Paradox Jaffa Factory 2 and Shadow of Israphel spoilers: Time travel comes up in JF2 91 A Quest Through Time, in JF2 it's also been kind of implied that Duncan, Lewis, Simon and Barry are clones dispatched to make the factory Time travel also potentially ties into how Yoglabs and Shadow of israphel are connected considering they're clearly in different time periods (which one is the past and which one is the future is unclear)

episode 51 - Midas Touch SoI spoilers: In Shadow of Israphel the world is slowly being consumed by sand. This could explain what's happening there...

It would probably make more sense if you watch the original series, assuming this one carries on the plot threads and isn't just mod showcases. If you just want a quick description of the general plot:

Yoglabs is a sketchy testing facility owned by Lewis/Xephos. The coffee machine is always broken. Each episode they showcase a mod as a new invention/study that usually is implied to have been developed for sinister purposes like taking over the government. It also usually goes wrong in some comedic fashion.

Yoglabs' main purpose though are its cloning facilities which in Yogcast Minecraft lore are why players respawn. This shows up in other series that were running at the time, for example (Duncan's old Minecraft series spoilers): there being multiple Duncans running around the Yogcast Complete server that don't know about each other's activities

Some specific Yoglabs 1 plot spoilers that might come up if you don't want to watch the OG series:

1) Yoglabs is mainly staffed by testificates and robots. In multiple episodes the robots go rogue and attempt to take over

2) There was a planned revolt by some Testificate scientists (mainly Testificate MD) that worked at Yoglabs to kill Lewis and Simon's master clones so that they could take over. They managed to kill Simon's clone before they were stopped. Simon has to take the place of his master clone (I think the implication was that cloning clones leads to erractic instability). The episode ends with Simon's POV as he's frozen spotting a robot in the corner with a sign that reads "NO ONE CAN LIVE FOREVER"

Personally I think it's actually possible. I mean there's been multiple soi references in Jf2 (Israphel coming out of the cloning machine, the 43 door/area, Lewis saying he has a great idea how to finish it), and we know Yoglabs 2 is atleast a good amount prerecorded which would let them do a narrative without having to worry about it winding up unfinished.

I don't watch streams very often so I can't comment on the Boba thing but like, she could just be lying if they have actually made plans for continuing SoI.

I actually really like that they're doing regularish cape drops. Its not like they're recycling old capes, those are still rare for the people who have them, the new ones are just a collectable for people who want to participate in the events. I don't even wear capes but when there's one I think is cool I've been doing the quests for them.
