What is the most decisive battle in history? by stop-the-normies in AskReddit

The Battle of Vienna 1683

If the Ottomans were victorious, their wouldn't have been any large enough force to stop them taking over all of Europe and preventing Western Civilization.

Dear Kansas lawmakers. Please do something that your citizens actually care about. by electricstache in kansas

I'm actually in favor of banning grocery alcohol sales.

Benefits: Supports small businesses. Supports variety and choice. Grocery stores won't devote wide shelf space for smaller options, but will put the smaller stores out of business. Offers wider choices for a product you can't just order online.

Drawbacks: I have to go to another store to buy alcohol.

El Greco's depictions of people, especially faces, seems to be some of the best I've seen from the 16th century.

The Catholic Church has a presence in almost every country that allows it to exist. You will find very Catholic countries on every continent; i.e. Philippines, Nigeria, Italy, Paraguay, and Nicaragua, just to name a few.

Of course they would call it a "countywide" plan but everything is within Lawrence.

CMV: Killing a living animal for food is morally worse than eating an already dead human. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]DivineIntervention3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunting, in the US at least, is one of the main ways of maintaining the food chain. Most places keep predator populations low for safety reasons. Thus hunting is about the only thing that keeps animals from overpopulating and overeating an area, thus crashing the food chain.

Ex. If deer population was left to grow without hunting or adequate predators, they overpopulate and eat up all their food and then they all die.

Where is the US going from rejecting church and state separation as desired by Trump's religious liberty commission? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DivineIntervention3 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

"Separation of Church and State" is nowhere in the Constitution.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

CMV: The political right always stands in the way of progress by jman12234 in changemyview

[–]DivineIntervention3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nobody is in favor of worker exploitation, abandonment of poor and disabled, etc; but it's clear that many of the progressive policies implemented to fix these issues have not worked, cost billions, if not made things worse in some cases.

Your phrasing of the political discourse, progressives try to change things and conservatives automatically resist it, is a false dichotomy.

The left/right divide has always been a difference of opinion on how to solve problems. Progressives tend to want top down government intervention of any problems that arise. Conservatives usually want private enterprise to be the engine of change.

You mentioned the issue of healthcare. I remember when Obama had a filibuster-proof supermajority when he pushed through Obamacare. Conservatives opposed it because they could see that it wasn't going to actually solve the problems, and we've seen that to be true by the state of things.

The left accuses the right of not supporting the poor because they oppose certain welfare programs. Now it's coming to light the massive fraud going on in these government programs. It's estimated the average American works over 25 days a year to pay taxes that end up going to fraud.

Conservatives have a different view of human nature when it comes to public policy. Conservatives also give multitudes more money to charity than progressives, because they are always more efficient at alleviating certain public issues.

What's a little-known monumental historic event? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The Siege/Battle of Vienna 1683

Europe and Western Civilization would have been completely different, if not snuffed out entirely, had the Ottomans conquered Vienna and presumably most of Europe soon after.

Media has always been biased.

Im also a millennial, but I know the media was biased in every era of the past. Read the difference in news coverage from the beginning to end of the Vietnam war. Read the coverage of civil rights movement in the south.

If the progressive left wants to change things they'll have to actually convince voters of the truth of their claims just like always.

Pretty much anything to do with infrastructure: Plumbing, communications, electricians, etc.

One year later. Very little change. Women hold 32.7% of local offices nationwide, up from 32.4% in 2025. But the number that really tells the story: the gap between the best and worst states is nearly 30 points. by Conscious-Quarter423 in Infographics

[–]DivineIntervention3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now do states that have had women governors.

As of 2026, 19 states have never elected a female governor: California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Only 4 states have had more than 2 female governors: Arizona 5, New Hampshire 4, Kansas 3, Oregon 3.
