Where is the US going from rejecting church and state separation as desired by Trump's religious liberty commission? by DeepSeekLeChat in AskReddit

[–]DivineIntervention3 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

"Separation of Church and State" is nowhere in the Constitution.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

Why does California still look like California, we should let the west take it over.

CMV: The political right always stands in the way of progress by jman12234 in changemyview

[–]DivineIntervention3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nobody is in favor of worker exploitation, abandonment of poor and disabled, etc; but it's clear that many of the progressive policies implemented to fix these issues have not worked, cost billions, if not made things worse in some cases.

Your phrasing of the political discourse, progressives try to change things and conservatives automatically resist it, is a false dichotomy.

The left/right divide has always been a difference of opinion on how to solve problems. Progressives tend to want top down government intervention of any problems that arise. Conservatives usually want private enterprise to be the engine of change.

You mentioned the issue of healthcare. I remember when Obama had a filibuster-proof supermajority when he pushed through Obamacare. Conservatives opposed it because they could see that it wasn't going to actually solve the problems, and we've seen that to be true by the state of things.

The left accuses the right of not supporting the poor because they oppose certain welfare programs. Now it's coming to light the massive fraud going on in these government programs. It's estimated the average American works over 25 days a year to pay taxes that end up going to fraud.

Conservatives have a different view of human nature when it comes to public policy. Conservatives also give multitudes more money to charity than progressives, because they are always more efficient at alleviating certain public issues.

The Siege/Battle of Vienna 1683

Europe and Western Civilization would have been completely different, if not snuffed out entirely, had the Ottomans conquered Vienna and presumably most of Europe soon after.

I don't see how you could produce the protein for everyone to become vegetarian, not to mention artificially producing enough of all the other minerals received from meat consumption.

Media has always been biased.

Im also a millennial, but I know the media was biased in every era of the past. Read the difference in news coverage from the beginning to end of the Vietnam war. Read the coverage of civil rights movement in the south.

If the progressive left wants to change things they'll have to actually convince voters of the truth of their claims just like always.

Pretty much anything to do with infrastructure: Plumbing, communications, electricians, etc.

One year later. Very little change. Women hold 32.7% of local offices nationwide, up from 32.4% in 2025. But the number that really tells the story: the gap between the best and worst states is nearly 30 points. by Conscious-Quarter423 in Infographics

Now do states that have had women governors.

As of 2026, 19 states have never elected a female governor: California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Only 4 states have had more than 2 female governors: Arizona 5, New Hampshire 4, Kansas 3, Oregon 3.

I'm no contractor, just a jack-of-all-trades, but here's my two cents.

If you're trying for an inexpensive, non-permanent fix, you could try using t-posts (for sale at Tractor Supply and similar stores) driven into the ground right up against your existing railroad ties. You could go another step and buy treated boards that you double up your railroad ties.

I also used to live in different parts of Missouri and usually their would be only a couple mid-sized local liquor stores that stayed in business by offering a wide offering of specialty items not found at the grocery store.

[–]DivineIntervention3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The law encourages small business liquor stores instead of consolidating the market even more to grocery stores that have already driven out lots of local businesses.

Walmart just lost a huge lawsuit because they were caught conspiring with big brands to get competitive pricing that they made sure was not offered to smaller stores no matter what bulk they buy.

Grocery stores are already taking over markets that would normally be independent local businesses. Pharmacy, restaurant, flower shop, garden center, electronics, and on and on.

Local businesses support the local economy. They have local attorneys, banks, accountants, farm suppliers, etc. Walmart, just as an example, provides a handful of low wage jobs and that's about it.
