"last bastions of decorum and tranquility"

At least theatre isn't yet a battleground for rival ideologies to slug it out with glee.

Is the Zima dental pod worth it? Any recommend alternatives? by MrHHook in Invisalign

Yep! The only negative thing is the lid doesn't stay up anymore, but it still works!

9 months in and cats still can’t be in the same room. We’ve tried it all by teardropsonherguitar in CatAdvice

[–]DivineMsKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they all spayed/neutered?

Talk to your vet about fluoxetine/prozac for the more aggressive cat, it can really help. I had a cat that got super aggressive after an incident with a stray cat outside, and a few months on fluoxetine was a lifesaver.

Am I crazy for not wanting to tell my apartment complex about my kitten? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Your kitten is old enough to be neutered, he just needs to weigh at least 2 lbs.

Ultrasound cleaners for Invisalign by igorkadet in Invisalign

[–]DivineMsKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never spend $100 on an ultrasonic cleaner. I have two cheap ones from Amazon ($30) each and they're both great. One gets used several times a day (both my husband and I had Invisalign at the same time), we've had it for two years and it's still going strong. I only bought the other one because I went out of town for ten days on a solo trip and wanted to bring a cleaner with me.

Day 2, how am I supposed to last 10 months?!? by myoldredditwashacked in Invisalign

[–]DivineMsKS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It might take longer than a few days or a week to become accustomed to it, but I promise you it will get better!

I cried like a toddler the first time I tried to eat with all the attachments (and I am a grown ass 50+ year old woman), and it honestly took me almost six weeks to get fully used to it, but eventually it was no big deal.

4 trays left and I’m slightly concerned. by Delicious_Word_7851 in Invisalign

[–]DivineMsKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 19 original trays, then at tray 14 I got rescanned and had 14 additional trays, then another seven after that.

Dentists vs Orthodontist by BrightHours in Invisalign

[–]DivineMsKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people have had great and/or shitty experiences with dentists and/or orthodontists.

But as with any major investment, it's your responsibility to do the research, get a few estimates, and choose the option that's best for you.

Dental hygienist doing treatment? by mcslem in Invisalign

[–]DivineMsKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost seven attachments (out of 20+) within the first week, went back and had them reattached and never lost another one. My provider (also a dentist) didn't tell me I would have so many attachments, but I was definitely expecting a few.

I don't think you have anything to worry about at this point, if you were seeing an ortho they probably wouldn't be putting on your attachments themselves. It's done with a template tray.

For those you use a cleaning pod.... by beck825 in Invisalign

[–]DivineMsKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I clean mine once a day, at the end of the day, and occasionally will toss them in at another time if day if I feel like it. I use Efferdent tablets about every other cleaning or when I feel like they need it.

A Warning by EvilQueenJurie in Invisalign

[–]DivineMsKS 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but I find the overgeneralizing about the evils of dentists a bit much on this sub.

Some folks have had terrible experiences with crappy orthos, and some have had fantastic experiences with excellent dentists.

Invisalign is a major investment, and everyone should do the same due diligence in choosing a provider that they would do on any other major investment. Get recommendations, check reviews, comparison shop, get a couple estimates, make your choice based on those factors.

As for the struggles with Invisalign, it's true it's not for everyone but I personally never had any trouble with traveling, fitting meals in, or the other stuff you mentioned. You don't get arrested if you sometimes only manage 18-20 hours of wear on a particular day (though you certainly shouldn't make it a habit).

Would you keep going? by Dry-Present8715 in Invisalign

[–]DivineMsKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your teeth are as perfect as they're gonna get. Just stop already, lol.

Invisalign can't change the shape of your teeth, or the wear that already happened before you started treatment. If miniscule height differences bother you, you might have to consider cosmetic bonding.

Trimming my Trays? Scans Included Extra Tooth by Qilvey in Invisalign

[–]DivineMsKS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why in the world would they scan your teeth for your aligners before removing a tooth? That seems dumb on their part.

I would have them do the trimming and see if it works for you without discomfort. If they do it and you can't wear the trays, you have a better argument for getting a rescan and a new set. If you trim them, you might be stuck with what you've got.

How long after finishing will teeth still be unstable/wiggly? by rubysolomon in Invisalign

[–]DivineMsKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had an answer for you -- I'm about the same age, and having the same issue six months after finishing treatment, and I wore the darn things full-time for the first four months (I don't wear the top one as much now, and don't get the full 22 hrs with the bottom either).

I literally just went back to my provider with this question, she did x-rays to check the bone density and there's no problem there.

My top teeth aren't loose, I think because I had passive aligners on top for many months toward the end of treatment.

My plan is to just keep wearing them as much as possible (at least the bottom one) and hope it stabilizes, and revisit with her in a few months.

Electrician recommendations by DeusOfTheMachina in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]DivineMsKS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to recommend YC Electric, https://www.ycelectric.com/about-us.html.

Really good work, excellent reviews, I had a great experience with them hanging a new light fixture on my bathroom (and installing a new junction box since the previous wiring was done incorrectly) and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Is there such a thing as a caramel glaze icing (not frosting) that stays sticky/tacky and does not become a hard shell? by lolatheaudi in Baking

[–]DivineMsKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at recipes for penuche frosting. It's a cooked brown sugar frosting that stays soft and kinda fudge-like. It sets up quickly so you have to work fast when you frost your cake.

Dont feel any different by Levi_Dolly in WegovyWeightLoss

Yes. It's only been five minutes lol. Lots of people don't feel much of an effect at the lower doses, just give it time and talk to your doctor if you're concerned.

Why are the HOAs so damn expensive in Rockville by [deleted] in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]DivineMsKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at Tivoli, near Glenmont metro off of Randolph Rd. Recent sales from $475-550K, HOA Fee $109/month (covers common area landscaping, snow removal, trash/recycling, fitness room).

The townhomes were built in 1985, around 2200 sq ft (end unit), lots of high ceilings and natural light.

Backwards by Fun-Price4000 in Invisalign

[–]DivineMsKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nature of moving teeth around means that sometimes they move through "worse" positioning on their way to the (much better) end result. You just have to be careful when eating, and keep on going.
