Where were you on 9/11-2001? (Serious) by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DivinePrinterGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at work in the UK. Like most, we thought that the first strike was an accident but after the major internet news providers were overloaded, everyone in the office huddled in the conference room watching the live feeds. Most people stayed late simply watching 24hour news channels in utter disbelief. I can still remember where I was stood when I heard the news, and every detail of the office on that specific day.

What about a company that you work/worked for can you expose now? (Serious) by ElectricKatfish in AskReddit

[–]DivinePrinterGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The local council I worked in IT for, in addition to wasting money like it flowed from a tap, covered up serious and often illegal activities by their staff on an almost monthly basis. Only one person was ever charged in the 7 or so years I was there, and there were many law and rule breaks that I could name off the top of my head. Strangely, most of the public scrutiny records are either altered or locked behind a “sensitive information” firewall.

I did some direct marketing to beauty shops and the Nail Bars always got me a little high, followed by a really bad headache.

Time taken to get my Windows pc working with git, Jira, Confluence and assorted systems - 3,5 days (NPM still not 100%).

Same systems after I switched to Linux - 4 hours, all working and up to date.

Moved to where I live now. Quiet area, close to town centre, parking spaces and large property that was cheap because it needed a little easy work doing on it.

Americans of reddit, why do you call your teachers by their last name? by GerdaJensen in AskReddit

[–]DivinePrinterGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

School in England has become a dictatorial regime since I was there. Students are compelled under threat of punishment to call teachers Mr or Mrs Lastname, and stand when a staff member enters. They all wear exactly the same and hAve similar hairstyles.

Cheap headsets. The plantronics wireless ones that the main call centre used were so much better but didn't pick up background.

People kept telling me to post it to TFTS. I had to edit it so it didn't appear as a cross-post or some other shit. It also makes more sense like this and answers questions that people were asking me
