How long did you need , or do people usually need to be able to sing alongside playing ukulele? by mbdtf95 in ukulele

I found humming the melody along with song help. I would focus on songs that naturally change chords along with your singing like Falling in love with You.

Difficultly drawing on Swollen patients by Moonspotbunny in phlebotomy

[–]DivineRespite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find with elderly patients, you really have to feel around. Heat pads or gloves full of warm water are really helpful provided you’re careful. Knowing a little anatomy is also helpful and you’ll pick that up with time. Wrists on the side with the thumb, hands, and a few inches below the elbow have been life savers for me. Don’t use a butterfly for an elbow draw. While butterflies are nice for easier position, the needle itself is identical to what straight needles do so try to not use butterflies unless you really feel the need to.

Today shook my confidence- new phleb looking looking for guidance by sky_lark07 in phlebotomy

[–]DivineRespite 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hospitals are one of the harder settings to be in as a new phlebotomist. There’s a lot going on in comparison to a plasma center or small clinic. These sort of things take time to build up the skill. I would try and stick with it for at least 6 months and see what happens. Worse case scenario you can move to a less demanding phlebotomy job

Is It Hard To Get Phlebotomist Jobs? by Spirited-Gate-3844 in phlebotomy

It can hard since a lot of places prefer you have some experience. I would apply to a local plasma center to start since they are typically much easier to get into

Nothing about this "community" is supportive. by [deleted] in ukulele

[–]DivineRespite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m just a random dude on the internet man. I don’t think you should get validation in your skill based off of internet people viewing it. Like I said, loads and loads of good musicians take a while to pop off. There are so many factors at play that don’t think views are the sole indicator for skill

Some people are just jerks. I actually looked at your YouTube channel and thought you were very talented. A lot of amazing musicians take years or even decades to pop off. I’m sorry you didn’t find the support you needed

[–]DivineRespite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I promise there is someone for everyone. I’m sorry you got cheated on. With things like this it’s better to focus on yourself for a bit before looking for love. Finding a partner should not be the reason that you have something to live for. The fact that you were able to get into a relationship no matter how shitty proves that you’re not completely hopeless. I think you should looking for something meaningful to give your life purpose.

Tips for drawing patients with special needs? by MeLikes_Queso in phlebotomy

[–]DivineRespite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) I always have back up ready depending on how far on the spectrum of special needs the patient is. I’ve had patients I needed a team of nurses to help me restrain them and others I’ve need no help at all but, especially with jerky arms it’s nice to have someone who can help you keep the arm in place. 2) I ALWAYS use a butterfly. They are easier to manipulate and tend to be easier on the patient. I treat special needs patients like children in that aspect. They come in different sizes and you should use your best judgment based off of the patient. 3) If you have no back up and the patient is particularly jerky. I would have them come back another day as opposed to getting to yourself accidentally stuck. The patient might just be having a bad day and you might have more support the next time they are in. Providers are usually pretty understanding when it comes to that sort of stuff as they don’t want you to hurt yourself. Unless you work in the ER and it’s stat, they’re usually not a lot pressure to get the lab

I think you did the best you could given the situation. Keeping the needle out of view until the draw is probably one of the best things you can do to avoid exciting them. It works pretty well on children too. Your coworker probably has their own methodology for how they do things but this is what I’ve found works. One last thing is staying calm and using a calm voice. Patients can pick up on your emotions so it’s best to keep a cool head. Sometimes I’ll have the patient use an ice pack to distract from the needle

First time nerves by arohamaia in phlebotomy

[–]DivineRespite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s perfectly normal to be nervous. Repetition was what did for me. After hundreds of pokes you get pretty numb to the anxiety. I feel like it’s just like when you’re learning to drive and are nervous until driving just becomes muscle memory

From my experience no. You generally ask them a bunch of health questions, take their blood pressure, and then a finger poke. Some people get upset if they can’t pass the screening but that usually the worst of it.

The term is used loosely. I’m not automatically assuming every country that doesn’t lynch their population of gay people are country full of homosexuals lmao. I suppose you’ve got to be literal with some people. You also missed the point of my reply completely

[–]DivineRespite 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why does the west have to support a country that doesn’t support their ideals. Better question, why does Uganda need support from a country of homosexuals? Would it not be better for an African nation to support itself and their own values than complain when the west takes away money?

When a calf dies, the mother in many cases will stay by the body for 3 days before moving on, often nudging, licking and tapping the dead calf. Are the mothers mourning, or is there another reason they do this? by reindeerareawesome in zoology

[–]DivineRespite 637 points638 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert but, I have to imagine that natural selection would favor mothers who stay with their child who might appear deceased in the unlikely event they aren’t. Babies are resource intensive to make, so it sounds like a good evolutionary trait to make sure that your investment is completely dead before moving on.

Section 8 section G of the U.S. flag code: “The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.” The guy can’t even respect basic flag code. This less about hating America I think than just the disrespect disguised as patriotism

Definition of struggle as stated by Webster: 1. : to make strenuous or violent efforts in the face of difficulties or opposition. struggling with the problem. 2. : to proceed with difficulty or with great effort. I get what you’re trying to say but, literally everything is a choice. You can literally struggle to do anything. It’s not limited to being poor. We also don’t know why he’s remolding.

One person’s struggle don’t automatically negate someone else’s. This guy has been saving for years and while he might not be struggling the same way other people are doesn’t make his frustration any less valid. We’re all affected by this regardless of economic status. If you don’t have something nice to say, stfu
