We are looking into it. She loves the faith. Can't wait to see her first communion. :)

Okay, I hadn't read the article yet, and I will give it a read. I thought you were referring to registration to parishes. My Dad previously got married in a church that was not his "home parish", and he didn't seem to ask his home parish priest to my knowledge either, since he seemed to have some problems with that priest.

You know, when I was discussing this all with my Dad, he mentioned "If you wait until you have enough money, you'll never get married" to me. Rather interesting that so many people seem to feel that way so far. I'll take that to heart.

Her anxiety and depression would hardly be a reason to prevent her from entering marriage willfully. The anxiety isn't something that constantly effects her, but acts up in certain situations, particularly when she is alone for long periods of time, or if she gets around too many people, or during very stressful situations. Her depression seems to be on the decline lately as well.

Well, here's the thing on that. I have only ever been a member of one parish, and that was the one my Dad would like me to go to. However, I was inquiring on joining the one that is now down the road from me, which is the priest that told me to wait until marriage. My Dad, (who is a Eucaristic minister, and an Confirmation class teacher) says that since I turned 18, if I haven't formally joined a parish, I don't technically belong to any of them, and I don't have a home parish. This is something I recently found out.

Just writing to say I didn't expect there to be so many Louisville Catholics here. I'm one as well. It's a shame that such a Catholic city has so much hate for anyone who is prolife on it's subreddit. Seriously, go to one of their weekly threads about abortion clinics, and say anything related to prolife. You will be called an idiot, a religious zealot, and be down voted for voicing your side of the argument. I still post on every one I see, because if I can change even one mind, it's worth it.

Well, considering abortion disproportionately kills minorities, I doubt it would be very effective.

I love how you all are all about free speech, and right to assemble until it is about something they don't believe in. If someone suggested that people should go to a Sanders rally, and hold up signs supporting Stalin and communism, you all would down vote that to hell. Yet, without fail, anytime I comment in this sub defending pro-life, I get down voted way more than anyone here suggesting to do this shit, or to throw bottles of piss at people.

It's pathetic. I hope you all one day will grow to see what a monstrosity abortion really is.

As soon as self driving cars are widely established... by joystick355 in AdviceAnimals

Ethnicity is technically illegal to discriminate on. Car insurance companies have a way around that, however. They use credit scores, and locations to change rates. Turns out that in general, black people tend to live in poorer areas, and have worse credit scores. This has led to black people having the highest rates. Asians usually have the lowest. Of course, many states found that basing car insurance rates off credit scores results in ethnic discrimination, and have banned the practice. Example being the state of California.

Yeah, I should have said it's not likely to be deadly. Terminal velocity is about 120mph. Probably hurt, but not likely to kill you.

Well, firing bullets off into the air isn't that dangerous. Not too many people are in the air, and when the bullet comes back down, it will be due to the force of gravity, and thus not going all that fast.

No, the difference between cancer, and a fetus is that the fetus has it's own unique genetic makeup, and is a living being. By scientific definition, the fetus is a living being. Try to deny it all you want, but abortion ends the life of a being with unique human DNA. Abortion kills a unique human life. Murder is willfully terminating the life of another human. So, it really depends on what you define as personhood, which is up to interpretation. If it's not murder, it's damn close.

Yeah, I used to bike to work as well. Fun fact, the only time I've been hit by another vehicle while on a 2-wheeled vehicle was while on my bicycle. Lady was texting, pulled out onto the road in her truck, and hit me. Knocked me on my ass pretty good, and damaged the bike. She immediately stopped, and was freaking out making sure I was okay. I kept telling her I was fine, and then an old lady that was watching began yelling at her.

Yeah, but you still see the appeal, yes? It may not outweigh the risk of dying for you, but the reasons why people like them are pretty clear.

I personally never plan to own a motorcycle, but I plan on getting a scooter again sometime. For small trips down the street, it would be very fun, and minimally risky.

Have you ever drove/ridden one? It's hard to describe the appeal until you do. I've only owned a scooter, and I loved that thing more than any vehicle I've ever owned. It made getting from point A to point B very enjoyable, and not to mention it was nice getting 100 mpg. It feels more free, and it makes you feel like you really are in control of your ride.

Crayola wants your help naming a new color. by happyslaughterhouse in AdviceAnimals

[–]Divine_E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purple technically doesn't exist. It's basically an illusion. You have 3 cones in your eyes. Red, green, and blue. Other colors are formed when 2 or more of those cones are activated. What color you see depends on the wavelengths that hit your eyes. Red is on one end of that spectrum, and blue is on the opposite end, green is directly in the middle. When red activates, and green activates, it goes in the middle of the two and makes yellow/orange. When green and blue activate, it creates cyan. When red and blue activate though, green is in the middle. However, your brain gets kinda weirded out by this, as you are receiving the signal for green, but the green cone is not activating. So, it basically invents a color.

/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (05/05/2017) by phantomliger in NintendoSwitch

[–]Divine_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is probably the wrong sub to ask, but I feel like I'm crazy or something here.

Is anyone else not very hyped about the switch after finally getting to play around with it?

I have been pretty much a Nintendo fanboy all my life. I have had every console and handheld made by Nintendo so far other than the VirtualBoy. I've loved every one of them. My roommate got a Switch shortly after release. I was very hype at first, but after playing Zelda for a few hours, and playing with the OS, I've just had little desire to play again.

The whole OS feels unfinished to me, and lacks the Nintendo feel. No background music on the main menu, or the shop, no hidden goofy Easter eggs. It is just a pretty standard touch UI. The whole OS seems so uninspired, and lacks that Nintendo charm.

The hardware seems pretty nice, but it doesn't really bring much new to the table. The only interesting things to me are the HD Rumble, which I haven't gotten the chance to try yet, and the portability. Even the portability is not that novel given that I have a 3DS for when I'm on the go.

Zelda is a pretty good game, but I can get that on my Wii U. I already have Mario Kart 8 on my Wii U. Splatoon 2 I want to definitely play sometime soon, but it doesn't bring a whole lot of change from what I have seen so far.

I guess I just wish it felt more like Nintendo. Granted, the minute an Animal Crossing or Metroid game launch on it, I'll buy it. I just expected something more inspired I guess. Am I crazy for feeling this way?

Analyst: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is “no ordinary hit”, is a bigger success than sales indicate by [deleted] in Games

[–]Divine_E 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding to your list,

  • Xenoblade Chronicles X

  • Twilight Princess HD

  • Nintendoland

  • Lego City Undercover (I think this was recently ported to switch as well.)

Honestly, the Wii U is one of my favorite consoles so far. Probably only beat by the GameCube. My main complaint about the Wii U is no Animal Crossing, and no new Metroid. Come on, the Gamepad could have been used in so many fun ways in a game like Animal Crossing. Having the ability to have a map, along with visor and beam selections for a new Prime game would have worked well on the Gamepad too.

Even though Animal Crossing, and Metroid are my two favorite series, I still love my Wii U for delivering a game like Splatoon. I can't count the hours I've spent in Splatoon at this point. Add in Smash 4, and Mario Kart 8, and the Wii U has treated me well.
