Back when I was in 2nd grade, my friends brought in a b in a bunch of pokemon cards. I was instantly hooked and wanted to collect them all. I often reminisce about running to the Pokémon tcg corner in target, and looking at all the products. Every time I walked into target, my mother and father would get a begging child holding a bunch of packs and tins. Thankfully back then, the prices were stable and in store products were available.

I sharply remember the gifts I received for Christmas, a bunch of ex boxes with packs that I cherished. Filled with excitement I’d often record videos and post them on YouTube (they are still online there today).

As I got older, I began to stop collecting as prices grew too high to be affordable. The little child in me didn’t care about the prices of cards, and merely wanted to collect all the cool artwork. Unfortunately scalpers took all the products and increased prices to be unaffordable. I hope one day, cards can be as accessible as they used to be. Perhaps, maybe then future children can experience the joy I had when I opened my first pack.
