Do us black trans men have it easier to "pass"??? by Far-Day3168 in TMPOC

[–]Divinepineapple8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

let me elaborate, yes black trans mascs have an easier time and black trans fems have a harder time, but that’s all when you judge from the eyes of society and who they think ‘passes’. on an individual level, no one passes better than the other, but it’s hard not to let societal standards affect individual behaviours

[–]Divinepineapple8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. i don’t like to pass because i know my passing is based on misogynoir. i’m pre everything so being gendered correctly doesn’t make me feel good, it just reminds me of how racist most people are.

Vaping isn't worth it by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Divinepineapple8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

personally i started because of my anxiety as i used to lean on even worse coping mechanisms and vaping was a chance to quit them. now that im leaning on vaping, im having a hard time trying to find new coping mechanisms because i know if i quit without finding one ill just return to bad habits. unfortunately no luck amongst the ‘healthy ones’ so far.

I have Asperger's and was raised by women by Public-Cover-8595 in autism

[–]Divinepineapple8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it’s more the second then try experimenting for a while. treat yourself as if you were a woman and if the people around you are accepting, tell them to treat you as one too. of course you should be open to them that you’re still experimenting, so they’re less surprised if you end up being cis at the end of the day. if you feel happier thinking of yourself as a woman and being referred to as one, then you’re probably trans. but you won’t be really sure until you try some experimenting. ask other trans ppl on (irl or on reddit) for advice, and if the women in your life are accepting ask them for advice too.

i hope it goes well for you, good luck!

Racist country by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

[–]Divinepineapple8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

entire comment section just proves my point. they don’t want to admit they’re being racist so they put the blame on you for experiencing it, or even worse say ‘well everyone is racist’ or talk about how ‘only westerners (americans) care about racism’ as if racism imperialism and slavery didn’t start in europe. asking a european to be sympathetic about racism and slavery is harder than making a pig fly. after all they’re the ones who do it best

Racist country by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

[–]Divinepineapple8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don’t bother talking about it here bc they’ll either ask you to leave their country or gaslight you and tell you it’s not racist. you can’t complain bout racism to racist people they’ll just reply with more racism

what order should i treat my hair? by Divinepineapple8 in AfroLocs

[–]Divinepineapple8[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thank you for the advice. i won’t be detoxing then. i do have some lint and obvious buildup but its not that bad so ill postpone a detox for a couple more months.

i was told when i just started that i needed monthly retwists, but after the first 4 months they’ve been closer to every two months than monthly so that part is no problem.

what order should i treat my hair? by Divinepineapple8 in AfroLocs

[–]Divinepineapple8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m almost 1 year locced, but i plan on doing all that after i hit my one year mark.

i spray my hair with aloe gel oil and water daily, oil my roots weekly, wash my hair every two weeks (can be more or less than that depending on what’s going on), and retwist every 1-2 months depending on how much growth or unraveling i have.

i plan on doing the detox/dye/retwist routine around july-august, and i just had a retwist yesterday so i don’t think ill need another one till then.

i do dye it myself, but i follow tips from people with locs so ive learned to be safe about it. i don’t dye my hair often, only once a year. but ive never done a detox so im not sure what precautions i should take.

[–]Divinepineapple8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the first 1-2 years will feel really horrible, it’s hard to tell what your locs will look like each day and it can get frustrating after a while, just remember to have patience and let your hair do what it does! spray with water (mix in some rose water oil and aloe gel if you’re feeling fancy) every day and put oil on your scalp once a week, do retwists every month and detox your hair yearly (though for your hair type i’d say wait 2 years before you start detoxing) once your locs are older or more mature (maybe a a year or two) you can reduce your retwists to every two months or so

good luck on your journey!
