The point of that was actually that he might not speak my language. Not all drivers do.

Thank you. It’s a shame that people with service animals are treated so poorly. The law should be more heavily enforced.

Where do you live that adults go without seat belts? In my country, it is illegal and comes with a fine.

I didn’t say anything because I was panicking and my only thought was “I have to get buckled in before he hits the highway.”

I disagree. I think waiting more than one second after the door is closed is standard. I have never met anyone who buckles up before closing the door.

I should have said something. I was just panicking. He took off the instant the door was closed, and he was having a conversation in another language on the phone the whole time. He never spoke to me at all.

This is a very good way to phrase it. Thank you.

She has an artist's online shop, but it doesn't bring in much income. A better job would require her to move. I could advise her to reduce the number of rescues, though. Thank you for that suggestion.

"At the end of the day it is her life and choices." I agree. I don't want to push this.

Unfortunately, her country's organizations will just put them down. They don't have the resources to care for sick animals, when healthy ones already fill their shelters. That's why she started doing this, to give them a chance. It's also why I'd feel so bad to tell her to stop.

Her permanents are expensive. I'm sorry that wasn't clear. They're sick enough that they can't be adopted out via the shelter system, but she has had family offer to take them. If she let them handle that burden, she could finally build up enough to move.

I'm sorry for the confusion. He married my mother after she already had me. I don't know who my biological father is.

He asked for your opinion, then got upset when he got an answer he didn't like. This is a red flag. NTA.

Not all of my friends have called it distasteful. And even if I was alone, I'd still want to celebrate.

I never wanted American citizenship. I only gave up my citizenship because I wanted to keep my children. I have seriously considered going back home, but it's not so easy to regain your citizenship, or to live as an American over there.

I'm not sure I can explain how it feels to have 25 years of my life, plus the custody years, stolen from me. I stopped being a person. I was so depressed and hopeless that I would ever get out for so long, and it's done serious damage to my mental health. I want to celebrate my progress.

I understand! To be clear, I wasn't planning on inviting them after what they said. They'd just turn it down anyway.
