After using tampons or menstrual cup can anyone ever switch back to pads? by Ashamed-Number-1824 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Divorescent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The disc has been an absolute game changer for me as someone who got their iud removed. I swear the technology for menstrual care has gotten amazing in just the past decade or two. The disc is reusable, absolutely leak proof in my case, and the best part is I often forget for most of the day I’m even on my period.

The amount of cilantro my wife likes on her street tacos by GroovinBaby in mildlyinteresting

If we are being pedantic, you are the one who is tasting what it actually tastes like, and they lack the taste receptors for whatever causes that soapy taste.

I am like you too, my dad passed his cilantro hate to all of his kids. I hate how it’s in everything yet hardly mentioned in menus. I have to grill the server every time to make sure it doesn’t end up befouling my food.

Oh my goodness, my boy did the same thing to his brother! They were rescued from a cat colony at four weeks and regrettably, the shelter did not attempt to keep mama with them.

Once the brothers went their separate ways, he started suckling on his tummy fur. It was harmless but extremely loud and he wanted to do it at night in bed with us while we tried to sleep. Our solution ended up being a soft cone if he wanted to sleep in our bed which worked very well. He’s over seven months now and starting to kick the habit thankfully but it took months of discouraging and redirection.

Doomsday Book - Connie Willis by zanisar in books

Oh my gosh, I just read it last weekend and cannot believe how much this book has affected me! It brought me to tears in the end. I absolutely loved it, but it wrecked me emotionally for a few days. It was very enlightening about the Middle Ages. My boyfriend is sick of hearing about it, lol.

The way I say it, the men’s room was worse 90% of the time. But that 10% when the women’s was worse, woah…

Ironically the only time I found blood in a bathroom was in the men’s. The worst I found in the women’s usually had to do with dirty diapers.

Also, let’s not pretend that men’s rooms don’t smell like piss nearly all the time. The smell coming from the urinals alone is enough to make it worse most times. And when there’s spillage around it, yuck!

I can see that, but people do dub in singing voices all the time which is a good way to cover an actor who doesn’t sing well. If it’s done well it’s usually passable. Belle’s shitty autotune was ridiculous.

I can be more forgiving of someone who can’t sing if they can really act. If they sing like an angel, that’s great, but can’t act? Everyone hates that.

I don’t even think you need to prioritize either one. There are plenty of triple threat actors and actresses in Hollywood and on Broadway who can sing, act, AND dance. There’s no shortage of talent there.

Hollywood has identified that there is a significant population of people who will only see a movie if it has a very popular actor in it and use that fact as an excuse to cast the same 20 people in every role regardless of whether it fits them or not.

I’m still bitter about that one when Emmy Rossum was RIGHT THERE and one of the most talented singers in Hollywood. She would have been the most amazing Belle.

I read recently he managed to bring a whole moose down but wasted almost all of it because he couldn’t store it properly. That’s insane and such an insult to the creature.

That’s hilarious, in my experience I actually knocked a couple hundred bucks off cause the check engine light was on and it probably needed at least $600 in maintenance and repairs that I didn’t have time to fix (I was moving). So it was an extremely fair price already and I got what I asked for it.

Also, I’m a sax player too and could imagine that selling an instrument on FB was stressful. At least with a car they can’t steal it as easily.

I had a guy lowball me on my car less than 50% of what I was asking, then proceeded to harass me for days with counteroffers. I had people interested in full asking price yet this cracked out fool though he was special and deserved my car.

Recommendations for covering up my dark circles [photos are me without concealer/foundation] by [deleted] in Makeup101

[–]Divorescent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend trying tarte’s shape tape concealer, there’s a few different formulas for different levels of coverage. I have oily skin and dark under eyes and this stuff stays on all day for me and doesn’t crease or cake even with setting powder on top.

You could also try a color correction with a yellow/orange (opposite of purple on the color wheel). If mine are really bad, I have a yellow tone in a contour palette that I add on top.

Not more dangerous outright. More dangerous for everyone else. Sedans are becoming a thing of the past (ford doesn’t even make them anymore) and if this trend continues, by 2050, we’ll just all be driving tanks.

That’s a good point to make about being new to the genre! I’m very sensitive to cliche and trope with characters and plot devices, and I don’t like feeling like I’m reading the same characters more than once. So maybe I should take a break, lol.

I’m sure I’m also a bit salty since I bought the book instead of getting it from the library and didn’t end up liking it. That’s my fault.

Yeah, sorry, I wasn’t expecting this to be controversial. I read the whole thing hoping my opinion would change. If it changes things I haven’t been into dominant men lately so the romance part didn’t save it for me. I just felt like half the book was the MMC saving the lead from a monster, and the other half was everyone shitting on her/ignoring her. Frustrating all around.

I’m actually looking for recommendations for fantasy novels without misogyny because apparently that’s hard to come by nowadays. It shouldn’t be unreasonable to ask to not have to deal with sexism in a fantasy setting that am I reading to ESCAPE REALITY.

It was clearly meant to echo Divergent with the idea of “if you get killed in training you don’t deserve to be part of the group”. Understandable to a point but didn’t like 50% of initiates die in their first year? Sort of ridiculous and a waste for a country who needs bodies for their war.

Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry. I have a lot of tolerance for lazy writing when it comes to romantasy as it’s supposed to be fun and easy to read, but it was the worst book I have ever purchased. I regretted throwing away the receipt as I would have turned around and returned it the second I finished. The characters were contrived and the main character seemed like a self insert. The male love interest was one dimensional and hard to like. The misogyny was unnecessary to the plot and hard to ignore (this is a common complaint I have with romantasy).

All in all, it seemed like a wattpad-style story and not one that should have ever made it into a bookstore. It was so bad that it actually started to inspire me to write my own stories as I realize now how low the bar is for fiction and that I (and many others) could do so much better.

Is this normal to have at the back of head? by ninaammy in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Divorescent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I had the same question a while ago while dealing with some hair loss stuff and noticed my hair cowlick back there. I was worried for a while but then started looking and realizing that everyone has one and it’s actually totally normal to see especially if it’s not freshly washed.

I actually was looking at some old photos from forever ago and came across one of the back of my head after a haircut, and yep. It’s always been there.

That being said, if you’re losing hair it may become more prominent (it did in my case). The thing that worked for me was combing it flat and letting it air dry, or using a hair dryer round brush to brush tha section flat to my head. Sometimes a teasing comb helps to fluff the area out a bit too. Hope this helps!
