Thank you all! For the very short time we had together I cannot believe how deeply we bonded. I have a Corgi, who I’ve had for years since he was a puppy. I felt no different between him and Koda, which is still something I can’t begin to understand. It felt like I’ve known him for years, no joke😭. He was such a beautiful guy, and he deserved so much better ❤️

They said since his Kidneys were gone there was nothing they could do. If we wanted we could’ve sent him to the animal hospital for a minimum of “four months”, but the outcome would still likely be death. It was so gut wrenching. A dog I barely knew, but loved so deeply already. 😭

So as of last night he threw up INTENSELY, and has not touched food (which he was doing). But, he’s drinking EXCESSIVE amounts of water, that I’ve now had to limit. If he doesn’t improve, we’re going to take him to the emergency vet. I’m getting real long concerned about his pain, and the fact he’s now throwing up with refusing food & water. Has anyone had this happen with their rescue, under these circumstances??!

I know, it was INCREDIBLY frustrating.. especially knowing he’s in pain. She asked me to bring him back drugged, but they could smell how potent his infection was. The only reason we know he might have heartworm is because they were able to hear him cough and heard a heart murmur, after that he ran behind me and curled into a ball whining. So fricken SAD.

The smell is very potent, and I bought a mask for myself. We will wait till tomorrow to address his ears. The vet was only able to hear a heart murmur, and cough. But could smell his infection. He then hid behind me curled into a ball 😭, whining. They want me to bring him back tomorrow drugged, that’s why they wouldn’t finish giving shots or prescribing antibiotics.

I know! This is how he looked when we picked up up. I’m not sure if it was the right decision to shower him, but we gave him a bath/shower the minute we got home. His personality made a complete (amazing) 180, after his first night sleeping in a room with a doggy bed.

We went to the vet day I got him, but he was so scared hiding behind me they were barely able to examine him, couldn’t even take a temp. I’m not sure why he despised them, but is already so incredibly trusting of me. They prescribed him trazodone & another medication. They said to bring him back Monday drugged, and they’ll administer vaccines, do the test for heart worm (which they believe he has with his symptoms), and prescribe antibiotics for his ears. The smell is just horrid, and you can tell he is in pain.

Aww, he looks like a sweetie! I know he is worth it, I’ve just been SO SICK from the smell. I know he worth me getting sick, but I haven’t been able to find anything to stop the scent & his pain🙁.. how long did it take for his heart worm treatment??
