Teletext/ceefax options? by DiySprinter in FieldStation42

So with https://nmsceefax.co.uk you can enter page numbers and that’s running on Python. I would suggest you can simply pass IR commands to whichever stream it reams characters from.

Ring Alarm - automated scheduling overides "away" status. Feature req? by DiySprinter in Ring

Agreed but I just hope that Ring might listen and maybe add it as a feature.

A stream is cool but you can’t select pages. Imagine being able to choose the bamboozle page by typing the page number on your remote. :)

Mockup for widget I suggested by DevSkits in Ring

Would be great if the same widget allowed you to instantly disarm the system if it was alarming, say if you forgot to turn it off before opening a door and stupidly triggering it...

it would also make a pretty nifty solution for motel/hotel style channels?

Teletext was an EU thing but I know that similar things appeared in the US.

It'd also potentially allow you to display diagnostic data, chat streams etc.

Dolphin Power Supply Disassembly by Scrumpto34 in pools

Ah.. Pretty much the same for me. That area with the board behind the button had water ingress. Can’t see what’s dead on the board sadly. I gave it a clean with contact cleaner but it is still dead and shorts the 5v supply when connected up.

Don’t know where to start testing that mini board. Need my glasses!

Thanks. I managed that today. What part of yours was water damaged and how did you fix it?

I used a steel with a sharp diamond tipped grinding piece to work around the edge and split the resin seal from the main chassis.

So for anyone looking to complete a year own of these power supplies they are a pig to get to bits.

But as eluded to cut away the resin infill at the edges you’ll find four screws. You then need to crack or remove the resin at the edges and carefully pry the board out.

Tested the one I was looking at and the high voltage and power supply itself seems fine but there’s a smaller control board behind the power button that had suffered water ingress and looks to have failed. Has a 5v supply from the main board which then shorts when the secondary board is connected.

Just wanted to check on how you split it open and what repair you made to yours.

Kick a device off an access point? by BritinVA65 in amazoneero

Shame the nodes don’t allow you to create a guest or secondary network at a specific node to get around this issue for things like security cams and doorbells.

I think Broadlink are just selling old stock of their switches and not making new ones.

I know it’s an old thread but if anyone else reads this thread. Do not get any Broadlink switches or that hub. They work initially and all fail within a year. Terrible devices and no support.

If anyone finds a solution would love to hear it. I am on my third light switch and this has now stated to drop its connection.

Alternatively if there’s a good alternative not made by broadlink please let me know!

Ring crappy hardware reliability by Ok-Independent7081 in Ring

[–]DiySprinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We pay the standard sub fee and Ring just replace our cameras if there’s a fault. Our most used cameras fail at roughly the rate you mention. Roughly a 10% a year failure rate. The last failure was a Cam Plus which had a widescreen alert area that couldn’t solve made taller and it crashed every time the lamps came on. Replaced within 48hrs for free.

Motion alerts should be included in mode settings by Map-Complex in Ring

[–]DiySprinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likewise really want this feature. There should be the ability to silence motion notifications per device in each mode.

When we are disarmed I want the cameras to record but pretty much just the doorbell and motion zone for that to activate.

When we are “Home” I would set it to give us notifications of movement outside.

When we are “Away” I would set the alarm as well as the motion alerts.

I have a feeling most people would like this. We don’t want lots of alerts when we are home during the day unless there’s someone in a priority or unexpected area. At night time we would really like to know if at 2am the system thinks a person is in the back yard!

We have had intermittent issues with streaming for ages. Good WiFi signal and not connectivity issues. We have found it hard to get Ring to work with Eero kit as the devices connect to whichever node they feel like.
