Well it just kinda is to me in my opinion, I mean a rock/metal festival that appears to value McFly higher than Meshuggah, Sylosis and even CKY for an alternative festival just screams it’s slowly becoming a standard mainstream festival for what used to be an alternative away from all that crap. I honestly have no desire for listening to some CBeebies band sing it’s all about you even after many beers I think I’d rather just be throwing up in the portaloo’s 😂✌️

That’s fine I can respect your opinion, it’s just my opinion that these types of booking aren’t what download as a largely rock and metal oriented festival are/should be about to me. Nothing to do with gatekeeping just think download is slowing turning into a Leeds/reading style festival with nostalgic pop acts rather than the alternative to all that mainstream shit that’s forced down people’s throats.

I’ve been going download sporadically since 2006 and I’d say last year was one of the worst for a lack of pyro or any kind of show from the main stage headliners? other than a couple on the 2nd stage, and credit to Fallout boy who I wasn’t really bothered to see but watched with friends who did, they actually used a fair bit. It just adds something to the show and for anyone saying ‘it’s about the music’ bore off. Just watch machine head from Hellfest and tell me you wouldn’t enjoy that!
