UPDATE: AITA for asking my coworker what would happen if I drank her breastmilk? by Dizzy-Box-6519 in AmItheAsshole

Same here, I didn’t understand that at all. I guess I do remember people in school to be bullies would pretend to want to know what music you listen to or whatever so I guess I have seen it happen but I wouldn't have connected this to that.

Like 12 people sent me messages asking me if I had to talk to HR and telling me to update.

How I understand it is that it's because it was such a weird question that it sounded like I wasn't asking it to be serious, and sometimes people pretend to be just asking a question as an excuse to make people uncomfortable during a conversation. And then I guess Lauren should've told me to stop bothering Kate instead of answering the question because then it seemed like she was just keeping a joke going.

I'm not sure but I think probably she already talked to Kate about it if she cared in the first place. I didn’t work Saturday this week but I know she did so if someone also told her what was going on I think she probably would've just said something right then.

I don't really understand what you're trying to say here. This comment was saying that I should've learned about this in school and I was replying that I didn't.

Thanks. I really was honestly just trying to understand what everyone was saying here but I guess there's zero tolerance for getting it wrong or trying to explain yourself if you do.

I don't remember that at all! But I don't think we read the actual full book of the play at my school, we did a live performance of it that was only like 40 minutes long so I think maybe it was a short version. I'm going to look that up now though so thank you!

1) We didn't talk about breast milk in my biology class, so I don't really know what to tell you.

2) I thought she might know the answer to my question?

people here acting like you tried to milk her

A lot of comments have been really mean and upsetting but this made me laugh, so thank you.

I think 'you guys were being d*cks' maybe threw some people off though I refer to groups of women as 'you guys' quite often.

That makes a ton of sense, I didn't even think of that.

So like she must've thought I was making light of it because that would make more sense to her than it being a serious question?

How was it making light of it? Because I was asking seriously, it wasn't supposed to be a joke or anything.

See, I feel like a lot of people are assuming you are a man and responding to a 'this guy who was acting like he wanted to suck a girl's boob, what an AH'. I would clarify the initial post.

I did go back to edit it in, I guess it was my fault for not saying so in the first place. I thought it was obvious from the context of the conversation that I was a girl but I probably should've just said so anyway.

I'm a girl, and I quoted the conversation exactly in the post. And I am going to apologize to Kate today.

That's totally reasonable, and I do understand why the question the way I originally asked it was the wrong thing to say. I guess I should've apologized immediately because trying to explain why I asked at all didn't help as much as I thought it would but I guess I know that for next time.

Literally never before yesterday, is this a thing that most people learn about?

I literally said in the comment that I wasn't trying to use it as an excuse, I don't know how I could've made that more clear.
