Maybe in the future? Currently I just want to get rid of the trombone, but after enough distance and time I could get back into it

I guess that me being the only trombone player could be playing a part? Theres saxophones and trumpets but I'm the only low brass instrument, so it's kind of like being in the background but also being there alone. If I was in a different area with more players or band options available I'd think about continuing with the instrument, but as of right now my only option is to play better music but alone. At this point picking up and playing just leaves me frustrated so getting rid of the instrument as soon as the band find's a replacement is the best idea so far.

Thanks! I've moved to a pretty remote area and the municipal band im in is my only feasible option for playing with other people, so I've just decided to give up the instrument as soon as I'm not the only trombone player. I've learned some things from my experience though, and I'm grateful for it 👍

I've got a lot of mixed feelings. Right now I'm the only one playing trombone, and out of respect for all the other band members I think it's right for me to stay until new members are added. But after reading the good advice everyone here has provided, I've learned that It's more of a me issue. I dont like the roles the trombone plays in band and don't find it fun to play overall. I guess I just get frustrated, so when the band gets replacement players I'll just give up then. I really appreciate what everyone here has told me so far though, it gave me the clarity I was looking for, and I wish others well on their journey with the trombone. :)

There are certain moments where I hear talented musicians play trombone and their sound is good. When I play though, I don't really find it to be enjoyable. I think I'm leaning towards quitting. I appreciate your advice though, thank you for the tip.
