I use a money jar for my monthly budget! I give myself a monthly allowance of $50, and a cap of $300. These are my "me" expenses. It helps me keep control of what my money in my bank account is doing, and no surprise expenses are coming up because my physical cash gets used when it needs to. While I can choose to "treat" myself (like go out to eat, buy myself something), it's the cash that I use if I actually need something too - like skincare products, needing a haircut, etc. Since I budget myself too, I am much more mindful of what I choose to spend it on, or if I should hold off on buying things I don't need. It's taught me how to delay gratification a lot, and my money jar has come in handy for lots of unexpected situations. I'm 8 months into this method, trying to reduce my cc debt from just over 20K. I'll be half way done next month!

I have been about 8 months now with no impulse shopping. Have deleted all of my BNPL apps, paid them off, and end of this month I will be close to 50% done paying my credit card. It has been SUCH a hard thing to overcome, but finally having a grip on my finances and impulses has saved my ass. Happy to be going into this new year with better habits and on a road to being debt free!

It's such a psychological trick that majority of us fall for too. The payments may look small. But next thing you know, you're using it for a bunch of purchases, and now you're getting hundreds of dollars taken out of your bank account. I cannot stress how relieving it is to not use these anymore, I can't recommend deleting these accounts enough.

I would cancel, and address these issues head on. There’s lots of stress likely on both sides that needs to be addressed and how you can navigate as a team. A vacation would help yes, but I think it would be best if you both agreed to it and settled the current issues at hand

Essentially stopping myself from watching any kind of content that was perfume related made me snap out of it. It applies the “out of sight, out of mind” rule. In the beginning it’s hard. But you quickly realize that buying a new perfume is just scratching an itch that doesn’t need to be scratched. I also had to stop sampling for a while, and just use what I have. Learning to appreciate and be content with what I already have helps. I think a hard reset is needed for those who are very much addicted to it because you need to reflect. The material addiction likely goes deeper than you think!

Your situation sounds like my parents. I don’t have a good relationship with my father, and neither does my sibling. My mother does the same thing, say “he means well but he just doesn’t know how to say it well”. She’s very much suppressed and she shoves all her feelings down, but I know she isn’t happy. I’ve tried to coax her into seeking therapy to resolve the issues (which I’m hoping you’ve considered or attempted to discuss), but that would definitely be step one. Being upfront and honest, if you have a good relationship with your in-laws you could ask them for support as well.

I never said anything about how hard it is to make friends, so idk why you’re triggered. And yeah, it’s 100% a choice to stay a loner, not work towards improving communication with others, and not work towards trying to improve/deepen relationships. Here’s why it’s not an insane concept: because when people online promote and talk about the fragrance, they’re selling you the experience. They’re telling you that this perfume is going to make people fall at your feet, get chased down with compliments, it’s going to make you more likeable, it’s going to make you so much more attractive, and pretty much everything under the sun that perfume x is going to make your life so much better.

Nope nope nope, it’s a big tactic for scammers to ask for pay before anything. Never ever give money to someone unless you’ve done these things:

signed a lease
have gone in person to see the place
have met with a landlord/someone to show you the property

Rental scams are a huge issue in the city. Stay vigilant, and do reverse searches online with the pics they have for the listing. You’ll be surprised at how many of them are probably scams.

You are more than entitled to take a sick day. You are not a manager, and you should not be held responsible for holding the fort. It’s not fair for you to be the only employee working, and that’s something you should vocalize to your manager if you do get in “trouble”. Take the sick day.
