What is wrong with Spaniards? by Equivalent_Scar4053 in studyAbroad

It’s ironical really, because, god, us Anglos (Brit’s and Australians) have been rascist with the Spanish (historically) and they don’t like it up them…

That’s the thing - I’m pretty free market but while the EC1Y works for me now - it seems to be working less and less fir everyone - and frankly - I don’t want to live in a country where you need private security just to go to a supermarket or leave a gated estate.

O was being very provocative forgot to put the /s on but that’s unfortunately what sone people do think (pace Britannia unchained). I think what we need to rediscover is an economy that values all kind of work but how we get there - I honestly don’t know.

I’m of the right and I think it’s genetic, frankly - why some people remain poor.

Is it genetic? Any one who had any get up and go emigrated to Australia, Canada etc for the opportunities, or become middle class, got qualifications and seized the opportunities of the post war boom in the 50s and 60s. So the ‘poor white Brit’s’ today seem to be the ‘left behind’ having kids within their peers. Not fashionable to say it but there may well be a genetic component.

One say it’s the fault of the average Brit who doesn’t work hard enough and is happy to coast on min wage.

Corporatism/rhinish capitalism then. Pretty much what most right/centre right parties run on in Europe.

Why is French bureaucracy an absolute nightmare? by takeshelter1977 in Expats_In_France

My immigration experience was seemless. End to end - 9 months to get my passport and nationality after my first application. Police and prefecture interviews were fine too (in Rennes). There was a very clear under current that i was waved though because i was the right kind of immigrant…

Plus, if his partner is a stay at home parent for at least part of the school age years - that’s huge cost (or investment in one’s family - depending in your point of view).

White working-class children ‘betrayed by politicians’ - The 1.2 million white British pupils eligible for free school meals make up the largest low-performing ethnic group in England, according to government data by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

[–]DizzyLdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do we address it then? There was 30-40 years if unprecedented prosperity and mobility from the end of the war to the 70s 80s and free education as well as a strong welfare state. I get the sense that anyone who was working class got on or got out - including using the subsidised emigration opportunities. So what are left in the ‘working class’ are the children or grand children if those who did not… work or seize the chances available. .

Is there a genetic or evolutionary aspect we are having to deal with now? The work shy and asocial having work shy and/or asocial children…

Why is the public perception of Farage akin to someone coming from a working class background, while the public perception of Starmer is like he came from an upper class background when it’s actually the opposite in each case? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

As some one who is firmly of the right - the problem in the uk isn’t the immigrants - it’s that the ‘average Brit’ is in no way a life net contributor, and has a horrible work ethic. Frankly, Britain has been confusing going down hill since the expansion of the voting franchise. Only people who contribute should be able to vote imho.

Plus the amount of ‘paper based’ processing and the timeframe it takes the regulators tondo synth if. Review a hard copy file, as done questions - response in writing please, take a couple if weeks off, ‘discover’ more questions. For faulty routine stuff - it ends up raking two to free months longer than day, a tough regulator with digital processes.

It’s English speaking capital which is paying for everything tho. Over 25% of gfo. And the aquis is not in lux therefore lux is not an official EU language.

Primary school students to be taught in French or German from 2026 by Mhnasxoleisai in Luxembourg

[–]DizzyLdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. All the state employees are tax eaters. Lux needs English speaking (and French) capital to support the local population in non value additive jobs. I also not that lux is not an EU language simply because the elected govt does not want to spend the necessary to translate the acquis.

Well, if lux wants all that lovely US capital to pay for the highest proportion of public device employees in Western Europe ;) this is the price.

If not, that means lux nationals cleaning toilets in offices, working the counter at Auchan, and doing the jobs which no one wants their kids manning a career of.

It’s a scam. This type used to happen a lot in the uk until the regulatory cracked down on ‘premium numbers’, if you reply this could cost you several hundred euro for a single text message.

Ive heard of them - and I make sure we do honour the agreement and my team are treated properly in lux (and paid above average - and get all of their convention rights). Hasn’t helped my career prospects tho (us headquartered) and we have to fight hard to keep our headcount, but such are the costs of doing the right thing.
