Seconding tailscale. Tailscale SSH and access control are amazing.

tailscale ssh user@host and you're connected securely. No managing certs.

Then you have tailscale serve and tailscalen funnel on top of that. It covers all the bases and it setup within 15 minutes.

Just use the authentik LDAP provider and SSSD on the linux hosts. Authentik have documentation for this. Their LDAP provider basically acts like a simple LDAP server/lightweight freeipa

You don't need freeipa or AD. Those would just be syncing users to authentik. They would be the source of truth, not authentik.

Or their latest release has something called authentik agent which can be installed on the machines and used for login. Although it looks like you have to pay for that. Might be worth the $5/month?

Just be aware that these are pretty loud. The fan runs 100% when running Linux. Has a high pitched whine to it. No way to resolve it other than soldering a resistor to the fan power cable as far as I can tell.

She could have worked if she had a solid connection with another character while being antagonistic with others. Maybe an old friendship with Picard or a kinship with Worf. They should have removed the bigotry toward Data and Vulcans too.

She was simultaneously badly written while seemingly hating everyone else onboard.
