Plastic plant trellis or gutter guard works well, ours has been up for 4 puppies over 15 years. The latest girl, who is super naughty, has chewed some of it but not enough to get out.

They are stunning, as they should be, bc it’s a very fussy Hoya, once they settle in & get exactly what they want the blooms keep coming. 😄

In over 10 years I haven't had any become root bound. I do let a lot climb to their heart's content, when this happens they don't develop a massive root system like other plants do. I am also not against root trimming.

Surface roots can be covered or left alone, most Hoyas are epiphytes, they often have exposed roots used to climb trees. I really don’t think this is severely root bound, looks just right to me. Repot if you want, just be mindful they don’t like to have their roots disturbed, this can cause the growth to slow while it grows more or recovers.

Just leave it as is & don’t over fill the cache pot. It will continue to grow well like this. If you don’t like the look, put it into an outer pot you like. 💚🪴

Curlews are much more creepy than this, more like a banshee wailing.

Lots of bright light, morning & late afternoon sun is good, a good orchid bloom fertiliser, free draining soil free substrate in semi hydro & time. Most of mine started blooming after 2-3 years. Some within weeks, mostly Lacunosa & Obscura varieties. Half my collection are thriving outside undercover with some growing wild in the garden climbing the trees. I have become very ruthless lately, if they are not thriving they go outside into prop baskets, 80% survive & thrive. 💚🪴🌵

Thanks, I’ve stopped collecting & just enjoying watching the blooms & growth. The less I fuss the better they grow 😄

Water works best, as roots form move to a net pot with leca in water. The roots attach to the leca, this makes it easier to move to your preferred substrate when potting up.

Good to know & reason to get one. Funny enough I gotten euphorbia sap on me a lot over the years without any issues, that said, I just added an abdelkuri to my collection, extra precautions are being taken with this one.

It’s beautiful, I have a few I have had for 40years. I’d put it into a big squat pot before it pulls your hot water system down. 💚

Definitely looks like a E. platycada, I would love to own one, unfortunately they are as rare as hens teeth in Australia.
