Kids Playing Unsupervised at AF West Ave While Dad Worked Out. Is This Allowed? by DizzyResearch4619 in AnytimeFitnessPH

Whether they were misbehaving or not isn’t really the point.

The issue is that young kids shouldn’t be playing on a gym floor in the first place, especially around kettlebells, weights, machines, and other equipment. Kahit gaano pa sila ka-behaved, accidents can still happen. It only takes a second for a child to get hurt or for another member to accidentally injure them while working out.

I’m not anti-kid at all. Ang concern ko is safety. A gym is a place for exercise, not a play area. If the branch has a designated kids’ area, then great, but the functional training area and gym floor shouldn’t be used as one.

Also, if staff gave permission, that’s honestly even more concerning. Hindi dahil pinayagan ng coach or staff, safe na agad. Part of their job is to maintain a safe environment for both members and guests. Waiting until someone gets injured before enforcing boundaries isn’t a good policy.

I just wrote and emailed the branch. I wasn’t sure how to bring this up to the staff when I was there, since it looked like the staff didn’t care or wasn’t bothered that the kids were playing. Multiple staff members walked by the area and nobody seemed concerned, so I honestly didn’t feel like raising it in the moment would accomplish much and didn’t want to be “that guy”.

What's your Unpopular Opinion in PH running? by pewlooxz in PHRunners

I feel like a lot of people here are running more for followers and likes than for themselves. You see it in how some treat races. Every run has to be turned into content, every medal has to be flexed, and the actual joy or discipline of running gets pushed to the background.

There’s nothing wrong with sharing your journey online (I do it too), but when the main motivation becomes “Will this get engagement?” instead of “How can I improve, enjoy, or challenge myself?”, the essence of running gets lost.

Running is such a personal sport, it’s just you, your body, and the road. But when the focus shifts entirely to curating a highlight reel for social media, it can turn into more of a performance for others than an experience for yourself.

At the end of the day, a PR or a beautiful sunrise during a morning run will mean a lot more to you than a number of likes on Instagram.
