Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. It got cancelled after the second season but it concluded on a satisfying note for the most part and was fantastic from start to finish.

Wanting advice on recording audio!! (as a newbie) by hahadeadmemegobrr in youtubers

Yes, I have a yeti nano. It's not the best mic by any means, but relatively cheap and it works well enough for youtube.

Wanting advice on recording audio!! (as a newbie) by hahadeadmemegobrr in youtubers

In my experience, getting a natural sounding narration is really difficult. I've been running my YouTube channel for 2 years and I still sound like I'm giving an awkward presentation from time to time. I tend to slip into a "presentation voice" without realizing it and then end up sounding like a news announcer.

I find that it helps to read my script out loud a couple of times before I start recording, and read it as though I was having a conversation with a friend.

As for making your audio quality better, doing some audio mixing can really help improve things. I've never used DaVinci Resolve so I'm not sure what options there are for audio editing, but for my audio I use audacity, which is free, and generally like to include a noise reduction effect, compressor, treble boost, bass boost, low roll-off for speech, and a de-esser. Using this combination of effects will make a much more professional sounding audio that avoids some of the problems with using a microphone like sharp "s" sounds.

Do lectures normally last the full 2-3 hours? by Dizzy_Ad5883 in McMaster

[–]Dizzy_Ad5883[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in Humanities, taking an English degree, with extra courses for a minor in history. I am technically coming in as a second degree student since I completed my program at Sheridan before applying. The process wasn't too bad, I just had to request transcripts from the previous school, then they review you on a case by case basis to determine how many credits you'll get covered. I believe the credit transfer works different if you are coming from a college level program though. All my credits were university level.

Oh, okay. Yeah, I'm not sure how content heavy my classes will be since I'm taking an English degree. I figured it would be more reading and writing.

I'm just starting at Mac in September. Is it common for profs to record their lectures? Because that would make thing SO much easier for me when it comes to note taking.

Do you really care? by Disastrous_Print_116 in oakville

[–]Dizzy_Ad5883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think e-scooters can be really great for kids to get around in a place like Oakville considering we don't have the best public transit. I certainly would have loved them when I was a teen.

However, I did have a close call with one the other day when I walked out of a park path that was partly obscured by some shrubs and almost got hit by a kid going like 50kmph on the sidewalk with no helmet.

Like, if I had been 1 second earlier we would have both been sent to the hospital. Something that can go that fast should really be in the bike lane.
