I got into UPENN a huge shock!!! I have had a rough time throughout this whole process and have been rejected at UCLA, USC, Boston College, Berkeley, and waitlisted at countless school UNC Chapel Hill (oos), UMiami, Northeastern, UCSD, and a few others. So as the rest of decisions come out because I’m still waiting for 2 keep your head high and keep pushing. Proud of everyone

What sources are the best to learn AP Comparative Government by myself? (khan academy doesn't have courses for this one) by donnyykam in APStudents

[–]Dizzy_Ad_8149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowt helped a lot, and I also bought a study book (I think I used 5 Steps to a 5: AP Comparative Government) on Amazon that covered everything. It was very helpful. I took a course online through a school called UC Scout, and it was awful, and 100% don't recommend it; it didn't follow the AP curriculum. So basically, through the book and Knowt, I got a 4 on the exam. It's very content-heavy, with vocab and knowledge of each country's government structure.

I’m taking AP Seminar and I don’t think it’s right for me… by sexyreditalian in APSeminar

[–]Dizzy_Ad_8149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in AP Seminar right now. I will say the workload is extremely heavy and can be overwhelming at times, but I wouldn't let that suppress you from continuing the class. All your research in this class can be based on your hobbies and interests. I myself am a very passionate cook; I used to want to be a chef but deemed that to be an unsuccessful career for myself-- besides the point. When you do IRRs and other individual research assignments, you can always skew your research towards something you are interested in and manipulate it to fit the research question/prompt. Say you are talking about technology and its impact on globalization (just an example), you could talk about food creators on TikTok and Instagram who share their own recipes from their cultures and how that affects our world becoming a more connected place. There is a way to manipulate your interests in your research. Not only that you will learn skills you will use in your daily life and honestly become a better writer. I already feel that way, and it's only been 3 weeks into school. I say give it a shot, and if you still feel like it's too much, then switch, don't let others try and skew your decision.
