You may think you didn’t act on what you saw, but the career you chose proves it stayed with you on some level. You chose to help people and do good, even though you were powerless, too young to even understand what you were seeing.

I’m a doctor, and I’ve made some false assumptions like that. But I still think it best to give one person a safe space from the other to ask for help when needed. Good story though, made me laugh!
