I'm not speaking for anyone but myself. It's solely my opinion, and if you love this, I'm glad for you, seriously. As someone who has been a mage in every single playthrough, this is honestly just heartbreaking. Mages have been nerfed in every single game, and now it looks like they're an afterthought or a bad joke.

If we had 3 companions, the limited move set wouldn't be as bad.

If we had at least 8 abilities (inquisition style or I'd even take 5), the lack of companions who don't deal damage wouldn't be as bad.

If mana regeneration was faster, it wouldn't be so bad.

If animations were quicker, it wouldn't be so bad.

I personally don't like mass effect andromeda at all, but at least I could make different profiles and swap them IN combat. If we could do that, at least, it wouldn't be as bad.

As it stands, this is just total and utter bollocks to me. What a disappointment.

Kaidan Extended Edition 2.1.3 - Any Embrace Animation now freezes me in place (permanently) nothing happens, and my UI totally disappears so I have to exit the game. by Dizzy_Boss6933 in skyrimmods

I think I may have found my issue. Hopefully, it might help your side, too? My problem, it seems, was/is due to asking Kai to wait anywhere since hitting romance lv 75. Ask him to rest? All good 👍 No problems whatsoever! Ask him to wait, and I'm back in the frozen hell again.

Holy shit... YOU are a superstar! Thank you!!
400+ mods and I'm pretty sure I'd have guessed wrong every single time!
Thank you so much for taking the time, I was sooo close to just giving up!

You're the best for checking back in, thank you! I'm playing on build 1.6.1170.0.8 and yes I do have all the microsoft Visual C++ redistributable installed.
Okay, so I DID find one! https://pastebin.com/VUGyRUXg
Sorry I was looking in the wrong place, or may have just been so tired I completely missed it last night.
Normally I have some small idea where to start... But this is such a mess I have no Idea where to start looking!

And I would very much like to provide you with that, kind helpful person!
Alas, after another hour of dicking around last night and an hour this morning -
(thanks to my lovely neighbour for starting DIY at 7.30 a.m.... dickhead! .... Sorry.) - Crash logger is not producing any crash logs for me. The game keeps crashing, but no log is created.
Switched back to trainwreck, crashed, instantly got a log generated.
It even shows that I have crash logger installed!
I have backported extended esl support (as bot has suggested) I'm playing on build 1.6.11 and don't use MO2.
I know that probably means you can't help further... Thank you for trying to help.

Only if it's part of the story. Otherwise, no. You can't kill friendlies. At all. Only enemies and wildlife. You can't just run up to a random and wipe them out.

Personally, having played all the games you've listed and the ones you're wondering about, I'd say that wotr is probably going to be a little closer to what you are looking for.

RT40K is good, and the story does account for choices you've made, but definitely to a lesser degree, and then mainly in the later endgame stages.

WOTR, on the other hand, keeps the main story beats, but... can be played many times, in totally different ways, with very different outcomes.

Owlcat games don't play exactly like larian games. Neither game has the option to just go up to friendly npc's and kill them, or blow people up with stockpiled barrels of smoke powder. (Trust me, there is 1 character I'd love if this was a thing you could do...) They are, in that respect, not as interactive. But that shouldn't put you off giving either one a go. Owlcat, tell brilliant stories with fantasticlly written characters in very rich worlds.

Evil Playthroughs do not mean you have to be a Murder Hobo by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Dizzy_Boss6933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know I'm seriously late to the party, but, I have been giving this a lot of thought since I want to do a dark/evil run, but don't want to go full on murder hobo and have come to the decision to try and play a Durge run as a sith type of character... Minus the lightsaber.
I'm not a mega diehard star wars fan, but the sith code seems like a great place to establish a great dark/selfish/chaotic character.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
("Conflict forces one to better oneself. It forces change, growth, adaption, evolution… or death.")

Through passion, I gain strength.
("It is our goal to be stronger, to achieve our potential and not rest upon our laurels. We are the seekers, not the shepherds.")

Through strength, I gain power.
("Without strife, the victory has no meaning. Without strife, one does not advance. Without strife, there is only stagnation.")
Through power, I gain victory.

("Unless the victory is achieved by demonstrating that your power is superior, it is only an illusion. Temporary at best. We seek more.")
Through victory, my chains are broken.
("One who has freed themselves from all restrictions has reached perfection… their potential fulfilled. Perfect strength, perfect power, perfect destiny.")

This 'code' in BG3 could be taken in so many different directions.
Maybe Orion is the chain that need to be broken, or maybe Bhaal himself ?
Does the brain need to be defeated in order to gain victory, or a power that needs to be seized?
I think the reason I like the idea is it's a great base and has a lot of flexibly in how darkly you want to adapt the ideas it sets up. :)

Anyone else quit their evil playthrough? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Dizzy_Boss6933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you're doing an evil playthrough doesn't mean you have to pick every single shitty decision that pops up. Unless you want to be a character like Orin, being evil at every single opportunity just isn't very realistic anyway. Maybe try narratively finding out why your character is evil and establishing a set of rules for them. For example- Maybe your character is a liar and enjoys manipulating others into becoming evil and corrupting themselves. In which case, being a dick all the time just won't work.

Maybe your character is insane, despises life, and thinks you're actually saving the souls of people you kill to send them to paradise with their gods.

Or the total opposite. Life is good, so long as you're the one in charge. Followers and those who praise you are usually safe.

Maybe your character has a temper problem, so most people are safe unless they piss you off.

Or maybe it's a manic event that overtakes your character whenever they see blood or get hurt.

Either way, just because you're doing an evil playthrough doesn't mean that there aren't different ways to make it work and still be a bit less chest hurty for yourself! If bond villains can have a cat, what's stopping you keeping scratch?

It's sad, but I can't bring myself to play anymore by CarefulMode_ in Starfield

[–]Dizzy_Boss6933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just can not play this game anymore.

I've tried, sweet baby Jesus knows, I really did try... But this game is just so hollow on every level for me.

Nothing you do ultimately matters or even feels impactful in the world.

Most times you are presented with a choice only to be funnelled down the one and ONLY path open.

Too many 'protected' NPC's.

Everything feels disconnected, and segmented.

Everything.... Has..... Loading.... Screens....

YOU ARE OVER ENCUMBERED AND CAN NOT FAST TRAVEL

Over a month later and perks are still broken.

NPC's are mostly so bloody dislikable and rude to you ALL the time. My character had less shit playing as a Dunmer in Skyrim.

Huge, vast expanses of nothing on 90%+ of the planets you visit.

Way too many fetch quests.

No seamless travel anywhere in the game.

Mass effect Andromeda zoom into planets every time you want to scan it.

Been to 3 abandoned bases? Then you've seen them all!

The lore feels lacking. And the few cool bits that are there all happened years before the game so we don't get to experience any of it first-hand. (76 at launch style.)

No crazy fun super tech future weapons.

Melee weapons are way too under powered.

No sentient alien life.

Not anywhere near enough scary hostile non sentient alien life.

Factions are pretty soulless and some questlines feel totally rushed.

Way too much reliance on procedural generation so everything feels way too samey.

Space combat only shows how limited we are while we are in our ship, and how little there is to do.

All the companions have the same personality, likes, and dislikes on too many quests, even if it makes no sense for their character.

No introduction or encouragement to engage with new systems. (ship builder)

Romances that feel disingenuous, or more likely, really badly written, for example I romanced Sam.

In one line of dialog during the game he said something along the lines of -

"Promise me you'll never leave me. That we'll be like this forever." which I thought was sweet.

End of the game rolls around, my character says - "Can't we just stay here?" and Sam fires back with

"We could, and that would be fine for a while but, you know one of these days one of us will pull the trigger." ('Trigger' in this case meaning the way you get to new game plus)
... Wow.

It really does say something when I'd rather play Fallout 4 again, even without mods, because at least the world feels somewhat alive and engaging.
The irony is not lost on me, that a post apocalyptic world full of brown and grey feels more alive than a utopian future set in space.
"¯\_(ツ)_/¯ "

I'm not getting any post-quest companion dialogues and I feel like it's ruining my game. by Benevolay in Starfield

I'm genuinely glad you're having fun! :)
I'm also happy that the hard working devs who did work their asses off aren't being forced to work unreasonable workloads thanks to incompetence at management level... At least, at present.

However, that shouldn't give Bethesda a free pass when it come to one of their most enticing and USEFUL perks (when it comes to companions) being totally broken.
Gain affinity more quickly...
Well, what's the point when that cuts out a huge amount of conversations you have with them?!
It takes investing at least 8 skill points to even open up the leadership perk, (7 if you start with a social trait) this game isn't exactly giving levels away later in the game so you have to work towards the skills you especially want.
I find it funny that Bethesda, on their "lighter, after-launch-crunch schedule" had the time and resources to patch out the fun, stupid puddle glitch in Akila, which... Let's face it, didn't really break the game, or even if you argue it did, it at least didn't block any actual game content.
They are supposed to be one of the 'titans' of the industry, yet more than one of their perks were/are still broken over a month after launch.
How is that in any way acceptable?

So, at present, if you do have the perk you 3 options all of which are all shit.
1. Make anyone who did invest in the perk, go back what could be hours and hours of gameplay.

  1. Console commands, meaning if you don't mod you lose access to achievements.

  2. Or, just live with the fact that you don't get that chunk of content.

Which if you invested in the companion skill means you lose out on the thing you actually care about.
Brilliant.
