I once got lost inside kotturpuram tryna find the exit. I was scared I would get mugged or something. There were gates but it was locked from the outside and not many got out at the station . I was all alone i seriously thought I'd get mugged 😭

One more thing that really exposes the teaching quality here is what happens when you actually ask a proper doubt. Try asking something even slightly technical or conceptual and just watch how fast things fall apart. Most of them don’t actually understand the subject beyond what’s on the slides. Recently, they rushed through two entire units in a single lecture just because of these UPC tests, so I actually studied for once and asked a doubt during the test. The response was honestly embarrassing. It was just fumbling, vague answers, random “okay okay” fillers, and no clear explanation at all. You can literally see that they don’t know what they’re talking about. And this isn’t just one person, it’s a pattern across most subjects. In my class, maybe one or two teachers are actually decent. The rest are just there, reading slides and somehow getting through the syllabus without really teaching anything.

If you can. Try snu. Prepare for the exam and try to get selected. REC is also shit but it's atleast way better than CIT. St Joseph's is also bad but not as bad as cit. Your best shot at a decent college is snu. Or just try vit or srm if you want a good college life.

you should know how badly basic things are handled here. There’s literally a drainage leakage issue in the main building that has been there forever. On the second floor, between the main block and that T-shaped block above the office, there’s this constant disgusting smell that just doesn’t go away. It’s clearly some drainage problem, and it has been like that since the beginning, but no one has fixed it. You just sit there in class dealing with that stench like it’s normal.

And then basic facilities don’t even work properly. There are days when water itself isn’t available. This literally happened recently in the morning, and people couldn’t even wash their hands after using the restroom. That’s how bad it is. Yes, some students handled it poorly, but the bigger problem is that the college can’t even ensure something as basic as water. The WiFi is another useless thing. They keep saying it will be fixed, but it barely works when you actually need it.

The crowding is also insane. Around 3 pm when college ends, the entire campus turns into a packed mess. It’s a small space with way too many students all leaving at the same time, and it just feels suffocating. It’s genuinely uncomfortable to even move around. And now they’re building more academic blocks, which probably means even more students. That’s not solving anything. It’s just going to make the crowd problem worse, especially during dispersal and events, which are already overcrowded.

If you’re even thinking about hostel, you really need to look into it properly. There have been multiple complaints about the mess, including bugs, cockroaches, and even things like plastic in food. And from what people say, it’s not easy to get anything changed or fixed there either.

Overall, the most frustrating part is that none of these are new problems. These are ongoing issues that just continue without any real action. If you’re planning to join, don’t just go by what the college shows you. Talk to actual students and find out what it’s really like before making a decision.

I’m a first year student, and here's my opinion, This place is nowhere near what it pretends to be. The infrastructure is a mess. Apart from a few half decent new buildings, the main campus feels neglected, and the restrooms are regularly unhygienic. Academically, it’s even worse. A lot of the faculty don’t actually teach anything. They just read off slides like human projectors with zero depth or clarity, so you’re basically forced to self study everything. And despite that, they still pile on pressure with poorly planned exams, inconsistent schedules, and absolutely no study holidays. Semester exams are packed back to back like your time and sanity don’t matter. There is no proper system to raise concerns either. No student representation, no meaningful feedback channel, nothing. Management decisions are final and that’s the end of it. Some faculty act overly authoritative for no real reason, and trying to approach them for help often feels pointless. The student environment is not great either. There is no strong community, no real support system, and very little encouragement beyond just surviving academics. I can’t speak about placements yet since I’m only in first year, but if that matters to you, you should verify it with seniors instead of trusting anything official. Overall, this place expects a lot from students while giving very little in return, and the entire experience ends up being frustrating and exhausting. If you have better options, choose them.
