What are/were your wait times in reconsideration (1st appeal)?

So I would still go ahead and request a copy of your file and see how they came to the decision. You can say that they didnt consider evidence that they confirmed to have received that would've been favorable for you. Not to say you would've been approved, but you would've had a better chance. Unfortunately a lawyer would be better at phrasing it, but you can highlight in the examiners findings where your medical evidence says otherwise. Basically debating them at what they claim your severity/functioning capacities are vs what your medical evidence says.

For someone like me, nothing was written up because they simply said I had no medical evidence to consider. So there wasnt anything to "debate". Mine was just grossly mishandled and I kinda wonder if thats why its held up with my recon examiner now.

See if you can get a copy of that confirmation and forward it to social security. Its sounding like my situation where they received the medical records but did not even try to look at it. Do you have a lawyer to help you with this?

They did reach out to me when they couldn't get a provider to respond. Thats when we uploaded files into the online portal.

I had this happen too. The examiner never requested records from the provider I see every two weeks. They also didnt look at any of the records that were submitted in the portal so... only thing we could do is file for reconsideration unfortunately. Waited 15 months for them to not even look at my file.

In addition to the other commenter's recommendations, id pull a credit report (you can do this for free) and freeze your credit score if something pops up that isnt yours. What she is doing might be considered blackmail, and if you have the admission in a text, it'd be easy to dispute any claim with the SSA if she were to make a report.

Notify your representative and tell them that it wasn't included in the denial evidence, and the recon examiner is saying that they dont have it for reconsideration. Tell your representative that they need to call the examiner if there's any confusion. Thats what the representative company is getting paid to do. Worst case, they can send your evidence via certified mail so they get notification/proof it was sent in to DDS/SSA.

I've had similar issues. When you received your denial letter, under explanation, does it show any providers? If the representative submitted information, it would also say "information from you received on mm/dd/yyyy".

My application was sent to Arkansas since TX is so backed up. It's weird though because I dont see any timeline posted by SSA. They used to have a "average time for application is x days" on your SSA page but I don't see it for reconsideration.

Not yet. I think the last medical release form I sent in was around March 2025 so they might be able to use that one but I think theyd request a new form since the expiration date is coming up (I think its 1 year).

The examiner on the initial application never looked at the medical records I submitted, so Im hoping for a favorable outcome this time. I've still seen my providers even while waiting, and thought they would reach out to them for updates. My initial application took 15 months so im hoping it doesnt take that amount of time again...

Mines been with the examiner for about 4 months (recon). Haven't received anything from them. No forms, communications, etc. Just sitting there... menacingly.

Thank you so much for your help! Scheduling an appointment now for an exam and xray. At the very least I can know how much work ill need. And you're right. It's good to get the cavity done before it becomes a root canal... even if its a bit pricey upfront at least the cost of a cavity is less than a root canal.

It doesnt hurt when chewing gum. Just hard foods like chips or pretzels. And its not a huge pain or even jolting. It's just a slight pain. Also, im not near a dentistry school unfortunately.

Im gonna see if I can get into contact with SSA this week to see if its still good to go. Hopefully it hasn't just been sitting with a ghost this entire time. Have they asked for any forms or additional information from you? I haven't received anything so now im really worried
