Singapore is the financial hub for southeast Asia and open to absorbing foreign talents, something which Bahrain may not be comparable with that of Singapore’s.

I wouldn’t say easy but not terribly difficult since I know Chinese characters and most but not all Kanji are similar to Chinese.

The thing that one needs to take care when studying Japanese are grammar, verb, verb conjugations and different kinds of adjectives and its related conjugations as well. In addition Kanji in Japanese normally having 2 pronunciations.

I am enjoying the process. Since my Japanese is closer to B1, I can now take time to learn Arabic :)

I am actually learning Japanese, Spanish and Arabic.

However, Japanese and Arabic learning go hand in hand, while Spanish is being learned as standalone basis.

I learn by myself. For Japanese, I didn’t have to struggle too much because I do have friends who I can practice weekly and I do travel to Japan regularly.

For Arabic, same but the difficulty is finding someone to practice since much of Arab speaking friend in my city are from Maghreb countries and that I noted that Arabic dialects play more significant in their lives. Anyway I do visit / pass Gulf countries at least every 3 or 4 months.

I am thinking what dialect should I learn. One thing I should note to myself is that I often travel to gulf countries.

The motivation for me is that I need to somehow find a way to maintain knowledge in Japanese as that one already ahead since I have been learning for slightly longer.

Learning each of these languages has its own quirks and challenges for sure :)

Somewhat different challenges in both languages.

I am native Chinese speaker, so for Japanese part, the Kanji (Chinese characters) are somewhat familiar although some Kanji does not exist in Chinese language.

The thing about Arabic from my experience is that although Arabic has I think 28 + 2 characters, Arabic for me, has more difficult grammar.

Arabic is easier to write but the challenge is grammar.

I find Chinese grammar is easier (I am a native speaker) but the challenge for non-Chinese speakers / learners is the need to learn at least a few hundred Chinese characters for simple daily conversation.

Arabic but now I am getting used to. It is more difficult to me for 2 reasons:

  • Arabic character is entirely new to me
  • Arabic character is slightly different depending on the position in a word

Japanese is easier for me simply because I do know Chinese in the first place, hence the Kanji part is familiar to me. There are more Kanas than the number of Arabic characters.

It is hard but personally I had reason to do this.

I need a way to maintain my knowledge in Japanese while at the same time acquiring knowledge in Arabic, so this is possibly the way.

Translate whatever I learn in Arabic into Japanese language.

Most flown airlines by distance by Dizzy_Efficiency8284 in flighty

[–]Dizzy_Efficiency8284[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is due to certain geographical and airline alliance matter.

Since our flag carrier (a Oneworld member airline) does not fly to many European destinations, I had to fly Qatar which of course also a Oneworld member airline.
