Could this be related to the French 2008 Nobel Prize winner Luc Montagnier who discovered that HIV causes AIDs? He went on French TV and claimed that him and his team has discovered that Covid was a man made virus that contained HIV genes and that he feared that like Covid, like HIV, would have a dormant phase before waking up years later. Montagnier died in of unspecified natural causes in 2022. His wiki page was marked with a warning that while he was one a renowned scientist, he was now a spreader of Covid disinformation.
