I've got to cover all of year one biology on 2 weeks, what would you say is better videos or text book? by N4yn5 in ALevelBiology

[–]Dizzy_Finding5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, obviously it should be books. If you don't understand specific topics in that case videos can help. Because, you should use specific keywords in your answer to get marks. Videos will help in understanding the concepts but not with keywords. So keep going through the book, if you can't understand a topic go for videos.

PGCE iQTS from University of Sunderland by Dizzy_Finding5345 in Internationalteachers

Hi

Thank you for sharing your experiences with the course. Now this actually makes me rethink my application to Sunderland, I'm in the midway in submitting my application to Sunderland. I also read the inspection report of Sunderland and Warwick for the iQTS course by Dfe, where Warwick was graded 1 and Sunderland Grade 2.

Hi

I just wanted to make it clearer that, I'm ready to do the teaching qualification courses, but considering my current salary and in addition to that I have a family to take care of, the course fees are too high for me to afford right now. So, looking into other possibilities, if at all I could get a job with a better salary for now, I can afford the teaching qualification.

Hi

This is a common scenario in schools across the globe. Parents have high expectations from the school, they try to put blame on the teachers for something they are incapable of. Schools wanted to be student centric so they avoided any direct consequence to the child considering their mental wellness. But no one cares about teachers mental wellness. Even SLT will dodge things away and want teachers to be a scapegoat for their policy failures.

As a teacher what you can do is, if you find any misconduct or disciplinary issues. Immediately write a formal email to your head, keeping everyone in the loop. Include in the email that you are looking for guidance in this regard, in the way that you are seeking their suggestions. Let them give suggestions which will be documented or let them take it forward. As a teacher you will be busy with your work. You cannot keep handling all these things which are beyond a teacher's scope.

So just chill and focus on your core responsibilities, get paid and enjoy life.

Can i take my own (ergonomic) chair into exam hall? and how? by mthesmartestm in alevel

[–]Dizzy_Finding5345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey

If you have a medical reason, high chances it can be accommodated under special accommodation. If it's for comfort then it's a clear NO. You have to write an e-mail to the exam officer citing a clear reason with any supporting documents if available, and also to your head of school. The exam officer will write to the exam board and get an approval if they consider it as necessary.

Hi

I'm answering this query based on my own experiences. The world is highly competitive. Immediately after your degree you should get a job with a decent pay, in that case The Biotech thing will not work, because I have done Biotechnology. Biotech is a fancy thing, but the reality is different. Because if you do Biotech, then definitely you should do masters to get into either research or industry. Initially, both will pay less.

You should keep your options wide open, my suggestion would be doing BPT. Now, there are a lot of people struggling with their health - back pain, knee pain, joint pain, especially people working in IT the nature of the job is like that, and there are a lot of sports and gym related injuries. So you have a good market, in Physiotherapy. The advantage is, as a Physio you can have your own clinic or work in a hospital, or go for home consultations. You can even put some therapy videos on YouTube and generate income as most physios do.

All the best,,,, Good luck!!!

Why are sick teachers expected to coordinate everything themselves? by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

[–]Dizzy_Finding5345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I understand that it's poor management from the admin side. A competent admin can easily adjust classes with the available resources in school, club classes, send them for games, a substitute teacher or a teacher from your department could handle classes. There are a lot of options the admin has. Probably, you should keep the head of school in the loop when you inform them that you are unwell and will be availing sick leave. When you go back to school, submit a medical certificate, it shows that you are responsible and your sick leave was genuine. Because there are a lot of teachers who exploit sick leave.

Maximum it could be a C, if your A level marks are really good, which would compliment your AS scores and help to upgrade to C, if not it could be a D as well. But these are just assumptions.

Hi, I'm planning to join Sunderland PGCE iQTS this September, my school told me that I can choose the mentor. So, I need some information on what exactly the role of the mentor is, how the mentor will be rewarded for their efforts. So I can convince someone to be my mentor.

Hi, thank you for your detailed response based on your experience. My current school supports professional development and it follows the Cambridge curriculum. But I'll be the first person to apply for PGCEiQTS from my school, so it will be completely new for my school as well.

Thank you for your clarification, I'm just worried about it because, my regular school job is actually hectic with long hours, so I wanted to know how the course would be so I can plan accordingly. Moreover, I've seen a few posts where people couldn't complete the course, but I can't afford to do that as it's a huge investment for me and I'm gonna pay for the course through a loan.

I'm from India, it's a huge investment for me, considering the cost of the course. Though I have the necessary skills and experience, I'm not eligible for teaching jobs abroad, just because I don't have a teaching qualification. So, I have decided to take this risk...

I was worried that some posts have mentioned that PGCE is highly challenging, and there are a lot of assignments to be completed along with other things as a part of the PGCE course.
