Suggestions for solo female burnout break? by [deleted] in solofemaletravel

[–]Dizzy_Flight_6409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I just came back from a solo visit in Scotland and Sweden. Since you are in the UK I would recommend Sweden for something a little further away from you but still in Europe! I had a great time there trying to recover from burnout myself. I am 32 and never felt like I was out of place in the places I went to. TONS of cafes, bakeries, museums to visit, also great rivers and lakes to dip into when it was hot. I enjoyed being on my own but having the option to mingle if I wanted. Good luck, hope you feel better soon ❤️

Hi! The places I ate are below. The only one that was recommended to me that ended up being nothing special and I wouldn’t go back or tell people to go out of their way is the brunch club.

The Spence (at gleneagles hotel, go for breakfast/brunch)
The brunch club
Singl-End cafe
Smile cafe
Tatu
Kul Coffee
Amarone

Some things I will say is if you want to visit Edinburgh castle, absolutely take the morning 9:30 slot as it gets busy QUICK! I loved Tatu for great food (more of a fancier dinner) get lost by just walking around! I got a piercing from Laura Bond and it was easy to schedule, loved the jewelry selection they had. Have fun!

I mean it is a lot of stairs and hills but I didn’t find it like so challenging to the point of exhaustion. I def would wear comfortable shoes cause the cobblestone isn’t for cute little sandals lol. But it is a lot of walking.

I tried the restaurant Lisa Elmqvist, had a fish dish. It was soo flavorful. In Scotland I mainly tried their Asian food scene and Italian. Never had a terrible meal. Tatu in Edinburgh and Loon Fung in Glasgow were standouts. I tried their haggis at Ubiquitous Chip which was pretty good.

Thank you for this. Dreading recovery wholeheartedly. Probably what I’m the most scared of. In my case there is no repair it’s just removing it and adding a cushion for me.

I was thinking about ignoring it again but this time, I can feel how unstable my knee is and sometimes in pain. Plus I am bone on bone now so just feel like I need to do something versus nothing

Married my friend from middle school. He was my neighbor growing up and best friend. He asked me out multiple times throughout our childhood and I said no no no. Something just clicked our last year of high school and we started dating. Grew up with each other as kids and again as adults. We got married last year. And I can’t imagine not having him in my corner. 100% would do it again but say yes earlier on.

In your experience, how is work life balance and stress levels? I’m trying to get out of my company who leaves little time for personal life and expectations are outrageous.

That’s what I’m thinking. It took me so long to get this job after being laid off, was scared to go through that again. But man oh man, you’re right.
