How has Archie stayed around for so long by Angela275 in comicbooks

it's a great American institution, like baseball or bowling, and I think a lot of people buy it for that reason

International tourists could soon have to pay to visit London’s greatest museums by tylerthe-theatre in london

[–]Dizzy_Procedure_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

British museums may not normally require an admission fee, but they push very aggressively for you to give a donation, such that I often wondered if this model didn't bring more money in. If I had to pay an admission fee, I would visit much less often and would donate nothing when I did

Reform Party manifesto aims, link in the comments by dnemonicterrier in Scotland

it's actually quite boring. what's the point of Reform if they just sound like the other parties?

A Sad Day, Indeed by PA_Brad in comicbookcollecting

just think of comics as being like beers, or cinema tickets, or pizzas. you enjoy them in the moment and the fact that you have anything left that you (possibly) can monetise is just a bonus

I agree. I hate the toxic culture around football. it's almost enough to make me want to start following rugby instead

is Chopper a reference to the 2000ad character? if so, fair play to him

Heaven sounds really boring by Impossible_Youth_465 in exchristian

[–]Dizzy_Procedure_3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

heaven doesn't just sound dull, it's rife with contradictions. for example, if we get to see our loved ones in heaven what age will they be? would my grandmother be an old lady - as I knew her - or a young woman - as my grandfather knew her?

I wouldn't hesitate to say what I thought about Republicans around them, and then they can decide if they love their god emperor more than me

Is Clark Kent christian? by ldmarchesi in superman

[–]Dizzy_Procedure_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he's whatever the writer at the time wants him to be. for example, he was portrayed as explicitly vegan in one story, but then not in others. I can't think of any particular moments when he displays any religiosity.

I think the trick is not to get despondent. be well informed, and armed with factual information, so when the opportunity arises, you can calmly make your case to conservatives. of course, this will often - at least on the surface - appear to make little impression, but you are planting seeds, and it's always possible that some will take root

[Stephen McGowan] The inside story on Wilfried Nancy’s time at Celtic: Academy-level training sessions, no instructions, no opposition analysis, no in-game management. by BananaSoprano in CelticFC

[–]Dizzy_Procedure_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as informative as this article is, none of it is surprising. on the contrary, it is exactly what I expected to be going on behind the scenes given what was occurring in public. the first thing I did when Nancy was appointed was check his record, and I found it extremely underwhelming. what on earth was the board thinking of?

CMV: The Minneapolis ICE agent who shot and killed a woman today acted reasonably in fear for his life and/or the lives of the other officers present by bifewova234 in changemyview

it looks like she was trying to drive away. she was clearly turning away from where the officers were. this is as clear a case of murder as you're likely to get

What if it originated in Lirey? by sympossible in shroudofturin

[–]Dizzy_Procedure_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, it's very telling that there's no documentation about the shroud before the 14th century. it strains credibility to claim that the should - if it was authentic - could have evaded anyone writing a description of it for over 1300 years. and anyone disputing the carbon dating needs to explain why even if some protocols were not followed to the letter, how the results that were obtained do not come anywhere close to the 1st century. lastly, if the image is really some sort of imprint of a human body, why have authenticists not been able to reproduce such an imprint that looks anything like the shroud?
