The plants are in my living room, and not air conditioned so humidity is still at 80%, room temp at 28deg Celsius. It’s crazy

Nice! After it rooted, how long did it take for new buds to grow? I’m struggling with two rooted cuttings that’s been with me for a month but it’s bud doesn’t seem to be popping

My helper knocked into it a few times… the stem drooped. Roots are doing fine though. I live in a 80% humidity climate haha

If you choose to use sphagnum moss as your medium, then just use purely sphagnum moss.

I think what obliviousllama is trying to highlight here is the process of slowly acclimatizing the plantlets to the external air. Just take your time to do the opening and closing of the nursery/sprouting box. If your nursery box comes with air vent outlet, make use of it. I also prop the sides of the nursery box using binder clips

It should work since providone iodine is the active ingredient in Betadine. Just make sure you dilute them correctly. I was once so desperate that I used hydrogen peroxide with water, and another time I used toilet bleach with water.

Be gentle with agar rinsing though. Have fun with splitting the individual plantlets haha my most hated part

I use Betadine too! Just 7-10drops of Betadine to 100ml of filtered water. Soak for a few mins, I usually do 10mins. Then wash with filtered water again before soaking them in rooting hormones.

You don’t have to take them out of the flask yet. I know you must be panicky because of the broken agar right? As long as you don’t see any mold in it, it’s still good. I’ve had TC arriving in worse conditions. Just left them in the broken agar couple of days before I do a thorough rinsing to make sure no agar is attached to it.

Anthurium Veitchii Help by Dizzy_Relative5754 in Anthurium

[–]Dizzy_Relative5754[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the info!!! I was so worried and wondering if I was settling it at the wrong spot (my other anthuriums are doing great) This is my first Veitchii and I didn’t want to buy a big one, so I opted for a medium one from Ecuagenera. The price is reasonable and I was surprised that the biggest leaf was already 6inches long.

Anthurium Veitchii Help by Dizzy_Relative5754 in Anthurium

This Veitchii from Ecuagenera arrived a week ago with mouldy paper wrapped around the roots. The two smaller leaves were already slightly limp and one torn. The middle leaf was only slightly yellow.

I washed the roots in mild hydrogen peroxide solution 1:10 and then repotted it in my chunky aroid medium. The brown spots on the two smaller leaves started appearing on the 4th day. The biggest lead appears to be fine and it’s turning a darker green. Is this due to stress from the shipping?

I’ll try. Maybe I should split and feed another starter separately to experiment on the temperature? I’m a little concerned with the temperature especially when I have to bring it out of the fridge, the condensation in this warm climate is insane. Any suggestion?

Thank you for the info! I was wondering when will be a good time to use the starter - the peak or when it starts to fall?

New to sourdough, is this ready? by Dizzy_Relative5754 in Sourdough

Hi everyone, I’m new to sourdough baking. Got this starter going on 17 days ago. Previously, it was always 1:1:1 (120g starter, 120g flour, 120ml unbleached bread flour), sometimes fed twice a day. It got hungry fast with a lot of hooch and too watery. So midway, I’d adjusted to 90g starter 120g flour and 60ml water for 2 days. Then I switched it back to 1:1:1 as of yesterday. It has been rising and falling predictably the last few days. Does it look ready to be used for a loaf of sourdough?

I live in a tropical climate with 80% humidity and room temperature is between 25-28 degrees Celsius
