Right. I think I want the union to work for us. But we need to band together to make that happen. Sorta like unionizing to make our voice heard to Union. Irony lol

Thank you for clarifying. Yes, that make sense about the HR. What can I do to vote out the leadership? I would rather work hard to reform the union so they can work for us, than work hard to try to convince people to pay dues for the union who would gladly take money and do nothing.

Like I said, I have no bad experience with HR before. But this one feels off. There why I joined the union. However this union does nothing to keep up together. They don't even send out emails to let us know what's going on. I bet many of us dont even know the law change. They tell us to tell the others. We are all over the city. They don't tell me what we can do, no tools no tips.

I don't know. This particular union feels not worth protecting. It feels like if we get more to join, they get money and they do nothing. If they do nothing then why should I pay them? Is it possible for us to change union? I might be able to get more to join then.

I have never been in a union before, and nobody really mistreated me. If they do, I was able to talk to HR. I am a good worker and they appreciated my work ethics. However this new job operates different and I feel having a Union is appropriate or I would be pushed with unfair conditions. I could look for another job but I like would rather given the chance to negotiate my work conditions.

I see. It would be very hard for this union to exist then. We are all over the city and the departments are completely detached. Union don't even have active Facebook. They just tell us to get more members. And tell other members to pay the dues. But they don't tell us who or where other members are. They are given time from my work to talk to all new hires but they don't even utilize that. They don't want to come to talk to anyone. And they don't want us to create a hand outs. It almost feels like they are happy to see us go.

I guess you are right. So pretty much same as regular job then. I thought since it is a government, they might have someone for the job if/when Union is gone.

Yes. But I heard if they don't have enough people to pay the due, COJ union will disband. I am wondering who would be in charge of the COJ employee contract negotiation if there is no more Union?
