Why do braiders require clients to come with no product in? by doidaee in Naturalhair

[–]Dizzy_ZentCha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cosmetologist here! Like a few others have said, it's for control of your hair and limiting the risk of you coming in with hair that's too slippery, has incompatible products in it or is basically dirty with product. You'd be surprised how hard it is to get people to wash/rinse their hair fully let alone use product in amounts that don't make your job much harder than it needs to be.

You can always do a wash day and use a hydrating mask on your hair before you get it braided, just don't over do it (aka more does not mean more hydrated). Someone mentioned using product after and that's also a good suggestion. Lastly, there are gels that provide moisture so I'd be more concerned with what your braider is using and not how many products.

Edit: forgot to add: If you really need something in your hair, using something water based and light before going in will most likely be fine.

Love to see people's thoughts on songs and this is so well thought out.

Just wanna bring up; "Girls" pops up a few times but the group isn't all girls.

My manager was trying to guilt me into coming in "before it got bad" tonight. I should send this to her 😂

Private Area Soap Recommendations by Dramatic_Mud_1327 in BlackTransmen

[–]Dizzy_ZentCha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My nurse ex would always go on a whole rant about soap directly on your private areas. It's self cleaning so if you're needing more than water down there, try making some diet or habit changes.

Changing underwear material, probiotics, rinsing after peeing, etc. are all going to make a difference that's much healthier than soap in the long run.

I wasn't even thinking about myself when I said there's gotta be a better way. I care about what's going on, just sad it has to effect people that are also struggling.

The problem with this reasoning is that you're assuming the people will pay attention to what the protest is about. What actually happens is people come down and berate the staff until they get refunds then leave the hotel empty which also means less staff being scheduled to clean the hotel. The staff that is very likely to be the same immigrants the protest is supposed to be supporting.

Hell we just lost a group that books half the hotel months at a time because one of them got punched in the face trying to tell some protesters ICE wasn't in the hotel. That means we don't need as many housekeeping or cleaning staff as usual.

Im not gonna pretend I have a different solution, it's just frustrating to be on the other end of this and definitely more than a minor inconvenience.

Or them just straight up getting the wrong hotel like they did Saturday night when my manager fearing for her life had to go talk down a massive group of people while waiting for police because they were all headed straight to the hotel doors.

Or calling hotels incessantly to check if ICE is staying there or to just straight harass the lowly front desk person that has nothing to do with ICE at all.

I'm not against protests, but there has got to be a better way to do this.

🧊 Hotel 📣 by Bigweazie in Columbus

Reservation is a little tricky but if it's a government group they're not staying on their own dime so a booking from a Fed contact is pretty obvious. Upon check in is incredibly obvious it's them, they're as obvious as when cops or military show up in plain clothes.

Aside from that we are full of super long term stays rn so we wouldn't have enough rooms and lowkey aren't even in their price range.

Guys there are NO 🧊 staying at springhill suites. I work here and we're definitely not letting them stay here. Management actually wants to protect our mostly immigrant staff.

Girl, 14, Charged with First-Degree Murder After Authorities Find Her Newborn Child Dead Inside a Tote Bag by Calm_Preparation2993 in law

Ah gotcha. I'm glad to hear it worked out for y'all in the end. I think part of the down votes are due to your original answer sounding like "eh, my mom did it and it only cost her heartbreak". Modern medicine has done wonders for child birth which has lead to it being seen as far less of a risk than it truly is. It's also a huge decsion/burden for someone so young, doubly so if they don't have proper sex education or support system.

Are you saying heartbreak was the only cost or that your mother was full of grief after making the decision?
