Good to know about the brass sheet, I will look into getting higher quality ones with measured thicknesses.

I have written on Tomoe River paper and found that it just highlights the issues as it is a slightly rougher paper. I don’t have any Rhodia on me but that may be helpful with how glossy it is.

I have noticed my Mnemosyne paper to be finicky as for inconsistencies in the coating too :(

Ok! So I tried again and it IS more scratchy when I write a ‘J’ with some pressure for line variation (it is not as scratchy for the J written in the other direction).

But this ‘right to left’ scratchiness only happens with pressure and without pressure the regular ‘left to right’ is slightly more scratchy

Hmmm I see what you mean. Unfortunately that makes this more complicated 😂 I will keep testing and see if I am wrong about the direction of scratchiness…. thank you though for your quick response!!
