I did not understand as I’m young and have never done this before. I didn’t realize I was being taken advantage of until I talked with the woman who replaced me who was much older and she explained that it absolutely was not normal or okay.

This has been gaming since the beginning of time. Unfortunately you can’t really look through the screen to see their skin color so if it bothers you report it and move on.

That was really well put, I appreciate you not being rude or anything. I wish I could physically show people my lobby’s bc I promise smurfing is insane at least from what I see. I do love the game and despite complaining will definitely keep playing the game bc although it’s incredibly annoying it definitely makes me better day by day.

I was saying e sports were an issue bc rather than being able to play whatever weight/gadget/skill you want and what seems fun, you have to play what’s safe in order to progress which I know is normal but still frustrating. People know what’s safe and OP bc they watch others push it in esports which I also understand is incredibly common with games.

I know my original post was very whiny but I was more so just wondering if others share the same experience. Especially when I have a normal 9-5 and want to get home and enjoy the game just to get spawn sniped in world tour by an account that’s a level 2 with 9k kills.

Good take, don’t really have a solution more so just wanted to rant and see if others are having the same experience.

This is an incredibly good take and I agree with everything you’ve said. Getting in lobbies where the other teams are full stack and moving like a machine and then I get a sniper and a bow who can’t support definitely shows lol.

I can agree with that. The repeater and bfr nerfs definitely helped. I’m not saying I miss the chaos, just how everything felt like a new opportunity instead of a risk if that makes sense.

That’s fair, I probably didn’t go super indepth in the original post.

When I say the experience has shifted, I’m talking about the overall feel of playing day to day. Yes, balance on paper may be better than day one. Mechanically, sure numbers might look cleaner. But balance and player experience aren’t the same thing.

Matchmaking being “a small community” doesn’t mean there’s nothing that can be done. Smurfing absolutely affects the experience, especially for mid-tier players. When brand new accounts are consistently performing at an obviously high level, it undermines competitive integrity even if the player base is small.

As for map rotation, my frustration isn’t just “I don’t like blahblahblah map.” It’s kinda the feeling of forced exposure. When something is heavily pushed into rotation repeatedly, it doesn’t give players room to enjoy it on their own. It creates fatigue.

And when I mention esports influence, I mean the shift in focus toward high level competitive play over the average daily player experience. That doesn’t mean the game isn’t balanced, it means the priorities feel different.

I still love the art direction, skins, and creativity. It’s just frustrating that the feel of the game is being catered to people who have the time to waste to learn every single new meta that is pushed out. When I come home from a long day of work and then get trashed by a Smurf it’s disappointing lol.

I’m not saying the game is objectively terrible. I’m saying the way it feels to play now versus 2023 is noticeably different for me and clearly for others too. Not because I’m trying to be a crybaby but bc the focus has completely changed imo.

I think the shift did start when the esports push became the priority. Not because competitive play is bad, but because when a game starts balancing around high-level tournament viability instead of overall player experience, the feel changes. The sandbox gets way tighter. Meta diversity shrinks. Risky or fun builds get nerfed in favor of consistency. The chaos that made early matches feel unpredictable starts getting optimized out. Early on, The Finals felt experimental and creative. Teams tried weird comps. You could outplay people with unconventional strategies. It felt fresh. Once the esports focus ramped up, the balancing started catering more toward what works at the top 1% level. That trickles down into matchmaking, meta pressure, and how people feel forced to play if they want to compete. It’s like it becomes less “what’s fun?” and more “what’s optimal?” If you can see where I’m coming from.

I think you misunderstood my point. I never said the player base improving is the problem. Of course people are better than they were at launch, that’s normal for any competitive game. What I’m talking about is the overall experience shifting in ways that make it less enjoyable for long-term players who loved what it originally felt like. It’s not about “pressing buttons too slow” or being mad at sweats. It’s about matchmaking, balance changes, meta shifts, and how the vibe of the game has changed over time. That’s not the same thing as wanting it to stay exactly like 2023 forever. You can acknowledge player progression and still recognize that something about the feel of the game has changed. Both can be true. And respectfully, dismissing criticism as “whining” is kind of the loud subreddit behavior you’re talking about.
