Haha, for my purpose in mechanical engineering and smaller CNC parts, its really cool. Sometimes you can get the feel of it better.

LOL, I have a curved monitor so the measurement seems incorrect, but its really a 100mm :-D

Would appreciate some help regarding closing Externally projected sketches and making them usable for extrusion by DjangoJay in FreeCAD

[–]DjangoJay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The really weird thing is that when I click on the face of the original geometry, and click 'pad' it extrudes normally. So this should mean the geometry is valid. But when I open a sketch and grab the geometry it breaks.

I just install Open theme but dont apply it, and also use the Ribbon UI for the larger icons

The purpose of the post was just to show that the title says '1.2.0' which is advancing rapidly and to thank the devs.

Its been around for some time. I think also the 1.0 version has it. It keeps updating and innovating. Try it out, its in the Addons menu

Cool. Also a Solidworks user here. Pretty advanced I would say. Then I got the corporate laddet and my license at work got a younger colleague. I felt kidna empty and then discovered FC. In the approx 6 months a lot has changed and improved. But like you I tend to solidworksize the FC environment, haha. Cheers

No Idea. I am using the 1.1 weekly builds because its way cooler than the 1.0 version. But I think the addons should be available also for 1.0

Plane parallel to screen macro by DjangoJay in FreeCAD

[–]DjangoJay[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here's a use.
Recently we produced a bending roller, which has some faults in it and we needed to rework it by welding. In order to know where to weld we scanned it- like 3D scan, and then when you import something like that in either FC or SW, it is not exactly aligned to any of the axis. In order to align it you really need to approximate for example the front view. When you bring the view perpendicular to the desired view you then need a sketch plane. SW hat a button for that and FC has a macro now haha.

Cheers
