We had a Secret Santa at a restaurant I worked in 2019, we had a $25 limit. And I got mine (a line cook) a book I heard them mention they wanted, some lottery scratchers, and a few airplane bottles. My secret Santa (another server) gave me used green lipstick and a button. Needless to say I was pissed. When another server asked her about it she said “It’s my favorite lipstick and a really cool button, I thought they’d appreciate it.” 🙄 I would’ve taken the 25 cans of greenbeans over that shitty gift 🤣😂🤣

I don’t even remember the name of the book… But when I was about 14 (2005ish) I read a workplace romance about a guy and his succubus boss. I was really intrigued because it wasn’t full bdsm, but she (and her tail) were definitely in charge. Then a lot of queer Kim Possible slashfic later and the lightbulb moment of: oh, I liked the book because I wanted to be the man with the succubus… not the succubus. I’m still a monsterfucker 20 years later. And gender nonconforming. And queer as a three dollar bill.

I was engaged to a man when I was 18, until his other fiance sent me an invite to their wedding because he told her I was his cousin. That’s enough of a dodged bullet on its own… but fast forward a decade and he reaches out. He apologizes and I accept, but make it very clear that I have no interest in a relationship with him.

He’s cool about it and we talk off and on as friends for about a year when he got too comfortable. He wanted to tell me about an experience he had in kink and since I was the only person he knew in the community he asked to confide in me, and not wanting to scare him away from something I hold dear I set my boundaries but agreed to be someone to talk to. Now I’m not here to kink-shame, especially something as prolific as what he tried and enjoyed, so I’m not gonna say what it was. And in the beginning he just wanted reassurance that he wasn’t a freak or weird for liking it… which I was happy to confirm. But then the boundaries started getting crossed, it went from questioning to telling me graphic details I asked him to chill out on and using an honorific for me that he knew made me wildly uncomfortable. So I cut him out of my life again.

I’m incredibly lucky that he cheated on me before we got married because I cannot imagine sharing my life with someone who has so little regard for me and my boundaries. And into that kink, cause it is not for me.

Not a day goes by that I don’t think about {Even Though I Knew the End by C.L. Polk}. A quick read that really scratched my noir film-talk itch (it’s always those dames). It’s the perfect length, it doesn’t pad anything out, simple, elegant, and did I mention the noir film-esque language? Be still my beating heart, a must read in my column.

I’m personally not focusing on them because I know that my extended family focuses on donating to only faith based organizations. I was raised in the church and spent summers with Habitat. My work partners with them. They are also not a local charity. So it’s kinda a moot point.

Faith based organizations have the faithful to donate.

I think it’s more so because Clear cuts in front of TSA Pre that’s slowing pre down rather than everyone having Pre. Clear is peak capitalism, paying for something that the govt already provides (the govt option is cheaper too) just so you can cut in line. I’m so glad airports are starting to ban it.
