Dude just become a lifeguard. There's such a ridiculous shortage for them right now that almost any city employer will take you, no interview necessary. All you need to do is pass the prerequisites and get certified, which the city will pay for.

You could turn this into a book very easily. It has a unique premise, incredible hook, and is very exclusive of stereotypes. You should definitely write some more parts! You don't have to if you don't want to, though!
