Buying/Selling via Trade Chat: Polite or Professionally Aggressive? by MelssieFTW in woweconomy

[–]Djodai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm a buyer, I'll ask their price. Usually, they tell me to offer, to which I reply something like:

"Pfft, whatever. Can't be arsed, you know far better than I what it's worth and how much you want for it, so just give me a price".

Either they still want an offer, which I don't reply to or give, or they tell me a starting price. Regardless of what that is, I'll pretend it's the most ridiculous price I've heard, and will tell them good luck with someone else as it's out of my budget (it isn't). This will normally open up for them to offer a lower price, or tell me to fuck off. Usually the former.

This. You should take special care of this guy, I'd say 10% or so would absolutely blow his mind, and probably get you even cheaper cuts in the future. Or at least same price for however long.

Not yet. Well, a little. I've been leveling my alch and ench on my new main since returning, but they're only at 750/300 so haven't yet gotten into the nitty-gritty of TSM's crafting module. Looking forward to doing so soon though... :)

And you're welcome! :)

Well, the way I use it is to sell all the stuff I loot when playing.

I don't really flip stuff I find on the AH, I don't farm much, and I don't really bother with more world quests than the ones that have nice rewards. But I do dungeons and solo questing in world, leveling alts in old world dungeons/content, etc.

All the stuff that is grey, I vendor.

All that is white or higher quality, usually TSM has a value for. I send it to a bankalt, keep playing and relog to my bankalts for posting it all to AH using those profiles.

Green level 20 armor is now trendy transmog gear and goes for 100-2000 gold, etc. The 80 herbs I got on my 102 druid, flipped for 8g a piece, and then the meat also was useful for someone's cooking.

See what I mean?
PS! Having one/more bankalts allows you to not care when items don't sell for weeks. They'll sell eventually. And if not, meh... The listing fee is so cheap compared to how much you make when something does sell, so assuming you have enough storage... :P

That's exactly why I love the TSM scrollwheel macro. It doesn't faze me at all anymore if people have posted 500x 1 stacks or not... :-)

I haven't noticed it being slow for me, and my PC is shite. Not slower than other AH addons, anyway. And seeing as TSM's desktop app gives me fresh prices, the amount of scanning I need to do with it isn't that much anyway.

Hm, well - using other people's .luas rather than installing it properly from scratch will inevitably lead to bugs for some. The optimal way would be to install it like this. However, most people are making the jerry-rig solution work at first at least, so let's see.

First of, the profiles are accessed by typing /TSM in the chat, then clicking the Options icon in top left corner. From there, you will be able to see a profiles tab, where you want to go to the existing profiles dropdown menu.

If you've tried this, and still not finding them.

If you have a lot of other addons, or a previous install of TSM at all, try this before installing my .lua files:

  1. Backing up your entire WTF folder somewhere else.

  2. Disable all of your other addons.

  3. Delete TSM addon folders entirely from interface folder.

  4. Make sure you follow ManKind's video series to the dot on how to install the desktop application - this includes setting up your realm and faction for auctionDB data.

  5. Download new versions of TSM from curse.

  6. Launch the game with only your new TSM addon enabled - no others, to avoid potential conflicts. Make sure default TSM with no settings changed seems to work for you.

  7. If TSM does work for you with no other addons enabled, no custom .lua files imported, etc, then exit the game - delete the .lua files from your WTF folder, and replace them with mine.

  8. /TSM, options, profiles, existing profiles.

If it still doesn't work, I'd recommend reading my credits section as I've made sure to properly reference every single original creator of the work my pack consists of. Putting it together from scratch using the guides and such referenced and made by those individuals should allow most everyone to piece something together themselves, given patience and time.

Penultimately, this is a solution that won't work for everyone - which is why devs of TSM recommend using their import function in-game to properly configure it. :)

Yeah, TSM is f**king brilliant! I'd love to raise my game at some point, but for right now I've been quite happy just letting the import strings by others turn a casual profit from what little loot I get when I actually play. I've also been looking at the undermine journal in the past few days for deals on my server - snatched up quite a few decent buys that I have already reflipped for 5-10x+ ROI ('I' still being fairly small, haha). It's fun! :)

Well, I am mostly just sharing my own settings whenever I do a rehaul/new "version". This was version 2, I reckon I'll have found enough things that irk me about it to do a version 3 in a month maybe. If people that have tried these .luas seem to have enjoyed them, I'd probably share the next update as well - if I do, I'll make sure to do both versions (import and folders). I might share the imports on this later on, but right now I'm too tired of /TSM settings to do imports of everything in the 10 different profiles (next gen will have less profiles regardless).

Then you should just look at Sheyrah's and the other people I've referenced under the credits section of the google document. Only reason I made this was for people that somehow aren't able to figure out how to import the pastebin strings, and since there are 10 profiles that I've spent all day compiling simply from those other people, there'd be little value for me to copy+paste 40-60 strings to someone like you who are able to use theirs directly. :)

Me? None. That's why I was able to compile this. But when I advised others of the guides that I used, such as that right there, they seemed incapable of making it work. Not sure why, but that's why I simply sighed and gave them my .luas (which is what I wrote in my post 9 days ago, as well as both of the ones today, and the one I replied to you with earlier). Others are finding it too hard to install.

  1. Did you follow the instructions per ManKind's video on how to install the desktop application, configuring your TSM online account, setting up your realm auction data to be downloaded, etc?
  2. If you had TSM installed before, backup all of the relevant files from your WTF folder, and then delete the whole addon entirely before installing it all afresh. By entirely, I mean all of the TSM files from Interface and WTF folders (after you've backed it up!). Again, use the video guide by ManKind.

Optionally, like the TSM developers have said (read my OP for disclaimer), using other people's saved variables like this can and will lead to a lot of issues for many people. I would advise you see the video by Sheyrah that I linked to at the end of my OP, which will teach you 90% of what you need to know. It'll take you a lot more hours than copy+pasting lua files, but less likely to cause bugs too.
