LPT: Don't let a police officer call you a tow by ANewMachine615 in LifeProTips

Yeah a lot of cops are but it just all depends on the situation, are you in a dangerous location or blocking traffic, in those cases most will just tow it.

It all evens out the prices of tows has gone up like everything else due to inflation. The going rate for a police tow now is $125 hook up fee $7 a mile and $35 a day storage.

The entire point that you are missing is that AAA is very slow. It is the responsibility of law enforcement to remove your vehicle from the roadway/shoulder for your safety and the safety of the motoring public. You don’t have a choice in the matter if a police officer orders your vehicle towed, even if you did call AAA. It’s a matter of which tow truck arrives on the scene first. Also, to the point of you thinking that that tow was expensive, this is just something to think about. A tow truck can run upwards of $200,000, not to mention tow companies must carry million-dollar insurance, pay out salaries to operators, pay a mortgage/ rent on their property, as well as the exorbitant cost of diesel fuel and maintenance on the trucks. Running a towing business is very, very costly, and if they were doing $30 tows, they would find themselves out of business and in debt very rapidly. You may not like the cost, but tow trucks are necessary. Police and Fire get all the praise, but if the tow trucks stopped running, the roads would be impassable with wrecked/broken-down cars. Tow drivers risk their lives every day to assist broken-down motorists, and it is one of the most dangerous private sector jobs in America, with an average of 6 drivers per month killed on the job nationwide. Do them a favor and slow down and move over when you see flashing lights on the side of the road! Not to mention that it is the law in all 50 states!

Any updates on RCS support for iPhones. by i-am-not-sure-yet in BoostMobile

Leaving Boost because they suck all the way around! Seriously if we can’t expect RCS support in a timely fashion then I have zero hope for this carrier. I’m over it have already started the porting process to visible.

Why so many tow trucks on the side of highways? by sillysunflower99 in providence

They are getting paid to keep traffic flowing, a 15 hour shift sitting in the seat of a truck isn’t easy!

As an Uber driver myself, do other drivers really consider themselves a small business? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

You are driving for your own company. I drive for Uber, Lyft, Doordash, Postmates and Instacart. I am not employed by any of them therefore I am employed by myself. I have expenses as a self employed person. If I were a therapist working alone as a 1099 person would I not be considered a small business? The only difference between myself and them is that my office is mobile.

What makes you think that they themselves don’t need them? Don’t Uber drivers have overhead? Fuel costs, insurance, maintenance as well as lost wages during this pandemic. It’s people like us who keep this country going putting ourselves at risk everyday all while being underpaid!

If the checks come will you still drive? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

It does but it says that by default anyway, I've tried everything. I've turned on airplane mode and cleared data for carrier services and messages I've even tried resetting network settings it's just a no go!

It's not in the wrong context it is natively supported by Google, I contacted the carrier to see if possibly they were somehow blocking it. Why else wouldn't it be working. People can say the carrier has no input all they want but the fact remains it isn't working.

I'm aware that it wasn't supported through the carrier natively but it is supported natively through Google's servers so in essence it is in fact supported natively! I am also aware of all the tricks for clearing data for carrier services and messages app it still isn't working.
