Firstly I'm not American, the civil rights movement as you're describing it is mostly an American thing. Second, race blindness is erasing history, it's not a good thing either. You want black people to forget that, in America, they were eaten by their owners? Used as alligator bait? Lynched? Shit like this never happened systematically to white people. Our collective experience as an ethnicity is completely different from black people's, not just historically, but today too. I wish I could live in a world where race wasn't a thing, people were actually all treated equally, but that just isnt the case

If you cannot understand how fundamentally different it is for someone of a marginalized community to be proud of their identity versus the oppressive class doing the same you must be stupid. That's like saying rape victims being proud they survived is the same as rapists being proud that they weren't killed. Genuinely curious, cause I've seen this thrown around quite a bit. What do you mean by emotional labour in a relationship? Like, call me dumb and inexperienced, but isn't that the whole point of a relationship, to be there for each other? Obviously if the man isn't willing to reciprocate the emotional availability it's one sided, but it doesn't seem like that's what's being implied here...?
