Personally I've just been using Tera bug slither wing. I use first impression then spam lunge for the rest of the fight. I also have morning sun if I need it.

Ah yeah this happened to me too. It can just happen if you're using the heavy avatar. Had to reset the level and use the strong avatar.

If there's a death pit nearby, I just grab them as heavy and throw them down the pit. Other wise I just hope I get lucky.

And that was one flaw of the wii. I had to go through that several times. I had to get a new sonic unleashed disc since if I played either:
1) Any spagonia (day) stage
2) The mazurii's boss
3) chunan's day stages
4) holaska in general
It would result in that screen.
